First off, I'd like to thank anyone for responding to this thread. And secondly, I'd like to express that it's been years since I built a PC and so am very rusty, so forgive me for being well.... a newb.

My brother has been using the same computer for ten years, until a few weeks ago and it finally died. It's been a long time coming, so I decided that for his bday/xmas, I'd build him a new computer. When I talked to him about it, he had what I thought was an unusual request: He wanted a AMD processor with a Nvidia graphics card. It took some searching, but I believe I found a motherboard that would work. Also, keep in mind that this is a budget Gaming PC, preferably in the $500 range. If it's a little above or a little below then that would be alright.

Here's the link to the to the gift registry on Amazon where I've been gathering the parts so far:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/ref=gno_listpop_wi

And this is the motherboard in particular I was talking about:

And Finally a full list of the parts by name that I have chosen so far:

I would but this but it's up to you.

Any AMD motherboard will take an Nvidia video card. The motherboard does not have to have an Nvidia chipset to use a Nvidia graphics card, in fact I would recommend going with an AMD chipset motherboard for a AMD cpu.

None of your links work so can't check them.

As GeekApproved mention, any AMD motherboard will work with a nVidia graphic card. You just need a power supply reliable enough to run your setup. I use a 890 motherboard with a GT240. It has run fine for over a year and I will be upgrading soon hopefully.

No apologies necessary spentshells. I am very appreciative of the effort you put in to assist me. Like I said, it's been so long that most of those I'm trying to re learn from scratch. And my apologies for for the links not working, I figured out through the quoting of spent's that you don't have to put in the stuff for it to work. I will fix i...com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131631

Only reason it popped out to me is it's an Asus and I'm farmilar with them. But pricey, but that's not really a shock, so I was wondering what other brands do you all use?

Lastly, before responding to spentshell, the reason for not putting in a power supply was because I was waiting to figure out how much juice the rig was going to need before selecting one. I am also up to suggestions on that front.

Now onto the reply:

That was my thought as well. In the beginning he wanted 16 GB if you can believe it, and I told him to slow down and go with the 4 GB. We compromised at 8, but I believe with a second opinion I could bring him back to 4.

This was a mighty pain in the rear to find because it was the only one I could find to fit the right measurements. For whatever reason, I couldn't find this one one my first search through and will be recommending this one instead.

The reason I chose this one was when i built my computer it seems like a decade ago, I used a Western Digital Hard Drive. But for 30 bucks less I'd be willing to check out the Samsung.

Indeed.

I will keep both in mind, and really depending on the final price of the rig will probably determine which one I choose. We even have to get a whole new monitor/tv, since the old computer had one of those clunky CRT's that you can barely tell colors apart one.

Edit: forgot to delete bottom part.
