Hey im looking towards the future and I'm eyeing the AMD 8 core bulldozer CPU'S coming down the line. I'v seen some source say there going to use a AM3+ Socket and im wondering if that means youll be able to toss one in a current AM3+ compatible board?
Will my current http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130297&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Motherboards+-+AMD-_-MSI-_-13130297 msi 870A Fuzion work i noticed just now that its a AM3 not a AM3+ I'm guessing that means ill need a new mother board cause the sockets are comparable?

That "market" is no different from any other market. Not all software makes the best use of 24 cores - some of the tests in that link didn't even make use of 12 cores. How is a lower clocked 24 core server supposed to perform against a higher clocked 12 core server when the workloads are only optimised for 12 cores?

The result of this scaling is that for once, you can notice which CPUs have real cores vs. ones that have virtual (Hyper...
I dont know why this thread turned from discussing amd cpus to comparing them to intels (which is still on topic), then showed me a picture of a canteen lady, and lastly nintendo processor ( 0_o )

anyways,

What I want AMD to do is to make the desktop processors rectangular instead of square because after I've used a processor to its end of life, I turn them into chains ( and sometimes wear them to parties! jk), I put them carefully in their death grave (a box I have filled with 4 processors now), where hopefully they will static and get destroyed. xD

So, AMD, Make rectangular desktop processors Plz!! I love the rectangular Opterons!

Who cares, i dont care. What i care is BULLDOZER Should tear apart i7 and sandybridge and thats what i am waiting for. Enough of GANG "Intel"

HAHAHA  Good idea, but i'd rather love to sell them instead of wearing them(weird fashion to hit the globe lol) :na:

Every square is a rectangle. :sarcastic:

You should turn them into folders for our team, we need some more people to do Folding@Home to get us up in the higher ranks. :sol:

I'll help ya guys with it when I get a Geforce card :sol: , btw squares are not rectangle 😛

This is what I want:

I think it would be kind of cool to have a star shaped CPU. It probably wouldn't perform optimally, but it would be interesting to have one.

Too bad Phenom II is just as rectangular as the rest of 'em. Sort of a let down. 🙁

meh my hyper 101 only touches 70% of my square CPU when its placed in the middle, and still after adding a second 80mm fan, the temps dont go above 50c @ 3.2 GHz L3 enabled (cant show ss's coz my mb is sent to RMA)

and also the am3 bracket is rectangular as is 😛
just that there will be no support for old processors, which I dont care about 😛

We should make mobos with pink PCBs.

Edit: Just to show how manly your X58 mobo is.

Does anybody remember when I said "don't get too excited about CeBIT"?

If you weren't following my blogs or in these forums (ie. 99.9999% of the world) there might be news. But for the hardcore bulldozer junkies you just aren't going to hear anything that has not been made public.

check this, if bulldozer aint coming early then thats okay cuz they are planning to push Llano first http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdPi4GPEI74

and good news Llano is also coming in desktops :)

Honestly, Llano excites me more than Bulldozer. It has shear potential for notebooks if the power envelope is right.
