You are comparing a 4 year old AMD CPU to a 7 year old Intel CPU. If the AMD FX-8350 couldn't beat the Core i5-760 then that would mean AMD's performance is astoundingly poor. That doesn't have any practical bearing on today's CPUs, however, as the FX-8350 is on average slower in the majority of tasks than any 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th generation Intel Core i5 products.

"Intel confirms tick-tock-shattering Kaby Lake processor as Moore’s Law falters

Intel has confirmed today that it will build a third generation of processors on its 14nm process, and that the switch to 10nm manufacturing has been delayed until the second half of 2017, "

You are completely missing the point---Intel doesnt HAVE to release an amazing, efficient CPU to catch up to itself. AMD does, and we are all excited to see what Zen can do, but being as the release date got moved away, it becomes more and more likely that Intel will have a new generation out then that will have already eclipsed what Zen couldve done this year.

I for one will be staying with the Linux Mint-friendly AM3+ platform due to its lack of any hardware-based potential interference with the way I prefer to use my PC (no significant built-in DRM or any 3G-accessible remote control gremlins which are variously found in more recent CPUs from both major vendors).

The recently released TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX R3.0 looks like a logical augment / hoard / hedge to / for my two older, ECC & 125 Watt-capable Asus 'boards--especially since the 'R3.0 was designed after the FX-9590's release.
