yep ram will work in dual channel with 2 or 4 sticks.
Running 4 sticks means you can not use 1t command rates, the impact of this is uncertain I have seen different results evety where but the range from 2%-10% performance hit. I would go 3-4% as best guess.
2x1gb is the optimum set up IMHO.

This review shows the performance difference between 2 sticks and 4

In real life there is not much difference its the synthetic benchmarks we see the big performance loss with 4 sticks.

As the wise posters above have said:

BF2 is a MAJOR memory hog!

Your best bet is to use 2 matched 1GB sticks such as these:

This is for illustration only, I realize you are in Sweden.

If you use 4 sticks they will work but will run quite a bit slower.

Your rig is VERY nice btw and should play ALL games VERY well indeed which the exception of memory hungry games like BF2 which would bring any machine to its knees no matter how fast it is.

just to let you know been playing BF2 and BF2 SF today with my specs and been able to play at full settings on 1280x1024 perfectly, no stutter, no lag, nothing, perfect, ok only on 16 player single player tho, i have no idea how to bring up the FPS, if someone tells me ill report the FPS to you too

"You could probably compare a 2.6 A64 to 3.4 P4, but you'll have to look at the CPU charats to know exactly.
"

A 3700+ running at 2.6G, essentially an FX55, will hang with even a 955EE in gaming.....

Yes it maybe is faster, but I cannot overclock mine due to the harddrive and nForce4...

I am waiting for my 2x 512Mb ram to see if that makes any difference as they have told me.

i saw your list and noticed only one gig of RAM, thought, i bet he's trying to play battlefield 2, then scrolled down, and confirmed it.

that system is pretty damn good, slightly better then my new one i'm getting(only one 7800gt for mine...for now)

I´ve got my new ram now. So I have 4x 512Mb and they are running at 400MHz in Dual Channel mode! Who said that it couldn´t run in Dual Channel :)

It also made a huge boost for Battlefield 2. When I had 2x 512Mb it would do about 30-100FPS but with some stops (lag) in the start of every new round and when a big explosion came or something like that, but now with 4x 512Mb that never happeneds!!! It holds about 46-100FPS no matter what is happening, and there is no lagg at all!
