Also, I am not surprised by this move. In the earnings call AMD management said 2nd 1/2 of May, but my guess is that will be the XTX, but their yields on the XT version were quite good and had enough QoH to warrant early release as a PR move.

Im pretty sure some Ati executive said they where waiting to realease a FULL line up. That could explain some of the delays. There was also something about compatability issues or something. Maybe they having problems with pista drivers like nvidia.

I'd be awesome if they do release all thier cards and beat nvidia to cartering to all the different levels of the market

8O Ouch, I was hoping they would sell for about $300 - $350. If those cards are really going to be $400, then I hope they work like a charm on Vista computers.

i know this sounds stupid but i think ati will price it higher, but more people would buy it...sure, it isn't as good now in direct x 9, but maybe it slaughters in dx10 and that is their reasoning and can predict that...i dunno, im just saying, there are other ways to move the stock other than lowering price or upping performance, look at the p4... the k8 slaughtered tham and was a tid bit cheaper in some sections but everyone had p4s...

The Judgement day Has arrived, Terminator should be arriving from the future anytime soon, in attempts of trying to stop AMD from Releasing this Monster, which took over peoples computers and caused the downfall of All other Graphic Cards, including it's predecessors

Everyone had Pentium 4s because Intel is the world's largest microprocessor manufacturer, and they're a far more recognized brand name in comparison to AMD. Nvidia has a larger market presence, a better marketing team, and will now have a better product, so it's unlikely the R600 will sell better "just because".

Fudzilla is saying launch is today but availabilty for the 2900XT for consumers is on the 14th. What the heck does that mean?

That means NDA is lifted today and AMD/ATI issues a press release. They won't arrive in retail unil the 14th.

The XT will initially be street priced $400 - $450, at least through May. After that, price will hover around $370 - 420. Factory OC'ed cards will not show up at launch, but will be available (for a premium) a few weeks later. There will also be several water-cooled versions.

The real problem here is the GTS 320.Its a lot cheaper than the 640 and roughly the same performer.I think the best price for AMD would be over 320 and under 640 or else 320 will be a big hit.

Sounds like everyone is forgetting the features it is sapposed to have(cant spell) including hdmi but idk anything about the HD era , well untill a google search.Ya know what I mean vern.sry couldnt resist , but I agree with verndewd.

its significantly faster than the 640mb 8800gts. youd have to be a newb to assume the pricing wont take advantage of that.380-450 depending on the core bin and clock.

Yes and:

You really want to stick with that $380-450.

Absolutely BE. I have no problems with my asessment of ATI pricing. Keep in mind the intro price of paired fx's versus anticipated pairs cost. The actual price was double what AMD said it would be.

The xt "spanks" the gts hell yeah its going to price with it and above. Its going to price equally to the 640mb version and fluctuate with bin and clock speed.

"Spanks" is hardly what I would call the increase a spanking would be more like my 7900GS against the HD2900XT now thats a spanking.

The 8800GTS 640mb is waaay overpriced in comparioson to the 8800GTS 320mb which is usually the case with larger memory cards on similar cores the "Mine is Bigger Than Yours" buyers go for these, compensating maybe? So a better comparision would be the 8800GTS 320mb running around 300 +/-30. Is it better? oh yea!, can you charge more?, oh yea!, are you willing to pay 30+% more? gulp......er..um... I forgot the question.

IMHO if they aim for 400+/-30 instead of 320+/-30 the sales picture is going to be remarkably different with 8800GTS 320mb cards going for less than 300 they aren't going to take the market share they need to generate revenue. Of course it took them 6 months to figure out where to price X2 chips vs Core2Duo so why would we expect them to come out competitive now so lets roll it out at $449 should solve the production capacity issues real quick.

The xt benches higher than the gts, it will cost more.
If it does then it comes close to GTX so why not buying a GTX instead? That way the GTS 320 looks like quite a bargain right? For 30-40% less?

Couldn't wait an longer... plopped down for a GTS 320 a few days ago... after rebates should be ~$259

I sure has heck can't wait another month for volumes to show up... I guess the 2600s would compete with the GTS 320... but aren't they crippled? I guess nobody knows because none of the benches have been released.

I'll enjoy my 320 till I upgrade next year.

Good for you, bad news for AMD, another sale lost....

Id love to be wrong on this. I wanted one until i saw the oc psu requirement. Min 750w is rumored for the card. I just have a strong feeling that its msrp will see boutique additions to the price.

Yeah, that's the thing that turned me off as well. I could put one in my system, but with even a mild oc I would be pushing my Liberty pretty hard.
