The real problem here is the GTS 320.Its a lot cheaper than the 640 and roughly the same performer.I think the best price for AMD would be over 320 and under 640 or else 320 will be a big hit.
The xt benches higher than the gts, it will cost more.

The xt is no faster than the GTS.

Our benchmarks for Half Life 2: Episode 1 showed an abnormal framerate for the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS card that scaled with lower resolutions -- we believe there was a copy error. We reran the tests this morning and achieved 119.2 frames per second with the GeForce 8800 GTS.

I did a stress test on CS:Source the other day... just an e4300 @ stock, 2gb Gkill 800 and 8800 GTS 320 = 195 FPS. My res was probably lower than that test, but 119 seems reasonable.

it seems like the differences between the 8800gts 320meg and the xt should be significant...aren't they taking drastically different approaches to DX10 GPU construction? I wish I understood more about nvidia's stream processors....

I don't buy the 750W system power req., it seems way too high. A single XT couldn't use enough to require that much PSU because it only has 1 power connector + the slot. I believe you choose between the 6 pin and the 8 pin, but don't use both. Someone in another thread said the max possible it could draw then was 175W, leaving some 575W for the rest of the system!?! Seems like a lie to me. Maybe this will get ATI to release the real specs.
I think with good drivers the XT should beat the GTS fairly well. It already beat the GTS fairly well in ATI optimized games like Oblivion by 10+FPS, and that was even in daily's bad benchmarks.

Definitely too high - probably means 750W on subpar power supply with untruthful ratings and everything else maxed out... even then though it seems a little ridiculous

I wouldnt mind having 320MB as it doesnt make much difference to the res i play ,at least for DX9 games. And for 40% less i wouldnt mind giving it away and get a better one in the (very) near future.
