Hey all...

I'm looking some feedback on your PERSONAL experience with OC'ing AMD Duron 700/750/800, and/or T-Bird 700/750/800.

What were your results?

What Mobo?

And of course, what kind of difficulties did you run into?

Respectfully, Cory

I was able to push my TB800 to 1Gig. It worked fine for three hours without problems. Now I´m running it @945. I see no reason for a higher clock speed right now.

A funny thing is that my TB doesn´t like ,5 multiplicators. The system hangs up with 850, 950 and even 750 after a few minutes.

My mobo is an Abit KT7 Raid.

Duron 700 runs all day long at 1045 but can get it to 1080 sometimes. KT7 MB IBM 46.1 gig HD 192megs PC133 ram. Unlocked L1 & L7 voltage at 1.85. Gforce2 MX, this is a very fast setup and it beats a P4 in Sandra CPU drystone ALU. In cpu multi media I lose to the P4 by a tad 5808 & 7082 for my Duron at 1045 where the P4@1500MHz gets 5892 & 7314. Not too bad for a $59.00 cpu and a cheap MX card...

Got my TB800 to 1000, but I'm gonna watch the temps and stability for a while to see how it runs. I changed only the multiplier, not the voltages. I'll keep you updated on how things are going. BTW I'd recommend the Asus mobo. So far its given me no probs whatsoever. Check the other TB800 threads for a load more info on this stuff...

Just got my Duron 600 up to 950. All is well. 44C temp
I did get it up to 1GHz. The temp was fine and I had to increase the voltage all the way. It did run but things just seemed strange. Icons were missing, it reset my video drivers to the default PCI VGA Adapter and seemed to run slower. So I decided to take the voltage back down and just keep it at 950.
It is a nice speed for a $45 chip.

I have an A7V and a Thunderbird 700, I unlocked the L1 bridges and I can only get to 800. I guess it should go higher but it just doesn't want to even when I put the voltage all the way at 1.85 do I have to unlock the L7 bridges too like the other post said he did?

I had my duron 600 @1000 Mhz but temperatures exceeded 55 degrees C. With the case open temps didn't exceed 49. I took the thermal tape off my heatsink and replaced it with thermal compound. I also installed a second case fan but I still couldn't get the CPU to operate below 50 during hard use and with the case closed. At 950 Mhz It still crossed 50.

I did have one crash when the temperatures were running high and I had Need for Speed 3 just quit on me and drop me back to the desktop. Since I can run the system all day with the case open I have to attribute those problems to excessive heat.

I think I am going to settle for 900 Mhz where temps are between 40 and 47 degrees. Besides, with only a Geforce256 SDR there is not a whole lot of performance difference between 600 Mhz and 1000 Mhz, 4500 3DMarks vs 4950, nevermind between 900 and 1000 Mhz.

By the way my MoBo is a KT7 and I love it.
