Sad in a way. I used to frequent often, but not for many years. I wasn't a fan of how their forums are conducted and that is what brought me here a bazillion years ago.

Lol...I got banned from their site pretty quickly for catching attitude with some little kid they had as a moderator on the forum aspect. At least, they reacted that age and I couldn't restrain myself from joining in.

Anandtech and Tom's were where my go to sites when I first jumped into the online tech world and reviews.

Review were good, very indepth.

After Ian Cuttress left, it seemed to be on a downward trajectory. Sad times.

They've gone the same way as HardOCP did in 2019, becoming a forum-only so they don't have to pay for any article authors. They still have a pretty active forum over there and are still owned by the same company as Tom's, so are unlikely to suffer the sad fate of TechReport--which was sold to some SEO type company only interested in generating useless new content-free "articles" for search clicks. That drove away forum members to the point there is about one new post a month now on their forums.

Anandtech and Tom's have been owned by the same company for 10 years now, so I hope they are just consolidating all further articles on Tom's, and this is not also the future for Tom's too.

I used to read Anandtech everyday, until they adopted a spyware platform for comments.

It was impossible to comment without registering with Disqus, so I left. My privacy is more important.
