I'm playing Anchorhead (which I think is excellent by the way) but something
happend and I'm not sure if it will prevent me from finishing the game. I've
left a gap just in case this classes as a spoiler!

I picked up the box of newspaper clippings in the basement of the house but
when I stepped outside the wind blew them all away. As I didn't have a saved
point I have continued with the story but now I'm worried I have lost a
vital piece of info needed to be able to complete the game.
Can anyone advise?

Cheers folks,

At times like that, UNDO is your friend 😉

I seem to remember that the clippings supply a host of background
information, but nothing that makes the game unwinnable without it.
If you browsed through them when you had them, you're probably
not stuffed, but I could easily be wrong.

Cheers, Roger

The clippings aren't needed to complete the game; I think they may have
some vague hints about something you must do, but nothing essential.

Oh!...sadly I didn't get around to reading them before I lost them and
ClieFrotz (on my Palm Tungsten) doesn't support Undo or Ooops so they're
gone for good.
The game seems to revolve quite a bit around research and I have an awful
feeling I've thrown away a key resource.
Never mind...I keep pluging on unless someone tells me it's a hopeless case.

Thanks

"Pace" the other posters, I actually do think reading the clippings
*is* vital. There's at least one "Information" source in the game
which, I believe, won't let you look things up in it unless you've
encountered them in the clippings (I had some difficulties after
loading a saved game in which I hadn't read them, and being told "you
don't know that name" or similar when trying to look them up); and I
think that you need to have the information in the clippings to make a
discovery about the family later on.
It may be that the game allows you to progress on a different path,
but I think there is a chance that you may be stuck.
sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings...

May i suggest that someone which can read the clippings to paste here their
information so that he can read them and not restart the game?

I can confirm what was stated in a previous post: that you need to actually
read the clippings in game to get names. If you don't, you have no reason
to look up the names, because you don't know them as the character, do you?
I just read the clippings as soon as I found them.
