I an using an Android Emulator so that I can play android games on my PC. It suggests adding hardware assisted virtualization to improve performance. Is this safe or would it open my system to attacks?

Solution
Usually virtualization software is safe, unless the one you're using happens to have a bug that can be exploited. You can join their support forums to check for any updates with regards to their security.

If your android emulator allows you to reset to default settings (i.e. perform a factory reset), then you can clear your current session and start a fresh one.
Also, assuming that your pc (Host) is completely isolated to the virtualized environment (guest) Android system, then you should be safe using the emulator software as well.

It means that that the virtual machine can make full use of the hardware in your computer (though likely just the CPU) as if it was running natively rather than going through the hassle of a bunch of software libraries to achieve the same thing.

Assuming the Android emulator doesn't have any issues, it's safe to use.
