Guys, this is another build I'm putting together. Just wanted a greenlight before I order, make sure I didn't forget anything.

The computer will be used for gaming; encoding, downloading, and burning media; hi-def playback <Multi-tasking>

The monitor he purchased is a 24", and gaming quality should be considered at 1920x1200

Storage was a concern, and TB drives were requested.

The order has to go out this afternoon, so quick feedback is appreciated from the crew.

CPU: i7 920
Mobo: P6T Dlx v2
RAM: G. Skill PI White (3x2gig)
Cooler: Zalman 9900
Case: Antec 902
HDD: WD Caviar Blk (2x 1tb)
GPU: EVGA GTX 280

GTX 280 is old and is being phased out, a GTX 275 would be a better option, it will overclock to GTX 280 standards pretty easily.

I'm not a fan of Zalman coolers because they are overpriced for the performance they deliver, I would go with a Scythe mugen 2 or S1283V DK

We found a good deal on the 280. It's only 10$ more than the cheapest I can find a 275. Would you still make the switch?

Also, I found the Zalman at a comparable price to the mugen. Would it still be worth the swap, or are they pretty equal performance wise?

I've enjoyed the relatively low noise for the performance the Zalman gives.

As always kid, your timely responses are appreciated.

You can justify both those decisions with those reasons, although I would still chose the Mugen or S1283V over the Zalman, they will perform better in terms of temperatures. If quietness is important to you though then the Zalman should do well.

I was originally looking at the 4850 x2, but countless reviews comparing the fans to a swarm of west nile killer bees mercilessly hunting you down dissuaded me.

I'll look into the cooler. Another question I have pertains to the case. I guess his desk is relatively small, which is why we targeted mid-tower. Is the 902 the one to look at, or do the Tempest and CM-690 hold sway over it?

Is this going on top of his desk? If so, then i would go for a mini tower instead of a full or mid tower, and probably use the DFI LP JR or Asus Rampage II Gene for MB. The CM 690 is big.

No, it's going under his desk, but apparently it is not that big, or he doesn't have much room, or something of the sort.

The PSU is a corsair 750tx. He has plans to add sli in the future, and expand the storage space on his system past4 drives.
