I've found 3 or 4 references to this specific problem on the forum but no definitive answer. THIS POST had the exact same font showing up as I do.
Happens on random pages and makes them unreadable. Firefox displays fine.

Any new insight on this?

Thanks!
Nancy

search on different locations

how did you get the font name?
easiest way would be something like

or you can find it analyzing the code yourself on the pages which are wrongly displayed:

I got the font name using 2 browser addons. Both showed it was Lato. (Also looked in the page code.) I hadn't checked the registry which I just did. And the other locations tenforums talked about. No Lato anywhere.

I'm unsure where else it might be located.

please upload a screenshot of the analysed font , sounds like a special problem
Something is sure off... I checked Chromes AND Edge today and now they are showing a DIFFERENT font name, though it's the same ornate scripty font. I have no idea what's going on.

Below are two screenshots from each browser saying the font is now Anek Bangla.

try without extension and only using the browsers tools to check the font.
chrome: right click -> inspect
I think Anek Bangla doesn´t look like the example you´ve given.

check windows integrity
open the command prompt as administrator and type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I'm not too skilled that this, but here is a screenshot using the right click inspect on MS Edge. Not sure this is the area you need but it shows the font Anek which is lined out. I'll look at the windows integrity thing next. I appreciate you time and help on this.
