Hey all,
I posted in a nother thread but i am currently in the process of doing a lower end upgrade of my system
Current specs:
i7 2600 (yes i know shes older but she works)
Asus P8H67-M PRO MB
Sapphire HD7850 2G (being replaced)
16Gb Kingston ram
1TB HDD
2 120 MM led fans
1 dvd rw

Now i plan on replacing the video card with a R9 380 (or a gtx 970 if i get a great deal on cyber monday) i know the PSU is old but it's been rock solid for like 5 years now.

I have a CX750M but after the horror stories i have heard i am returning it tomorrow.
If i do need to replace it, i want full modular as i bought a Enthoon Pro M case and wanna take full advantage of it.

EDIT: this just caught my eye, is 550W enough?

Suggestions? I've been outta the game a while
Thanks!

970 will barely work, the 380 will NOT work on that system. The Earthwatts 450-650 have their fair share of horror stories, and i had a 650 version that literally started smoking after a loud bang. I replaced mine with a Seasonic 660XP2, and that thing is absolutely beautiful. In fact, it saves me a bit over 2 bucks a month in electrical bills!

Lol savings is always good ! Next build i am gonna budget a lot more towards upgrades. I know any brand can go wrong, just i head tons of horror stories about the CX

Ok so i found a cosmetically damaged one on Amazon (the 650G2) got it shipped here for sat for $90 bucks, thanks for the help guys, seriously need to read up a lot as i have fallen way behind. Appreciate the time, ill let ya know how it turns out and post a pic 😀

Got the PSU in today and it's broken. The internal baffle/shield thing broke loose or something and it hits the fan when i turn it on... such a shame i was really looking forward to getting this together this weekend. Now i have to wait to ship it back, for them to fix or replace it and reship it IF there are any left on amazon.

Your fault for buying a used unit. Newegg had the same PSU for the same price brand new, and had a rebate as well...

NEVER buy a used power supply, it's like buying a used toothbrush!
