uhm, so, Tacos, when did u first get into compies? when did u do ur first build?

LIKE i said, i got my p180 for 80 bucks, how do i know its a p180b?
as far as i can remmeber it says jsut p180 on the case

they dont actually give u 600 bucks, we're supposed to "
learn" how to build a comp worht about 600 bux
i already know how to do that, although ive never done it before 8) 8O

so, do u think they could fit a ds3 or s3 with any kind of core 2 duo for that price (with possible monitor, os, keyboard)?

what would u suggest for my cable managment? taping them to the metal areas? i don t think i should do that mobo thingy u guys are doing :!:

someone might get hurt.

holy god.

wait so the b version is black, wtf?

thats why>?

dude, omfg, i coulda chosen that, but i picked the silver one, cause its looks all 'rustic" and all

wait so the black one does NOT have the vga duct?
i dont even kjnow what the duct looks like?

what are the difs between the black and silver versiosn?

sh!t, this is retarded, the guy who runs the "class" said that we could possibly have 600 or as low as 475 ish....

hes a pro AMD/ATI guy, and im a pro intel nvidia guy....

he wants a x2 3800, and i want an e4300, of ocurse with a gigabyte s3 or ds3 8)

but, crap, if i get that, its not gonna be adequate for me down the line....what can i do?

do u think i can fit that c2d into the 500 dollar build? (without monitor key/mouse, and possibly without OS)

i was jsut at the class, last 2 posts were form there, its every wed

sh!t, pisses me off, i know i have to compromise, but if im gonna get an 8800gts/8900gts, i dont wanna have a bottlenecked computer

how do u think the x2 3800 vs. the e4300 $80 total tradeoff is (with mobo price difs)?

Do you have to get 2 gigs of RAM?

A 4300, 7600GT, 1 gig Value RAM, 450w FSP PSU, cheap $20 case, maybe an S3 mobo.......you might hit your budget there...... :?:

Ya, but he has to cut budget somewhere. Unless he's willing to go AMD or get a crap mobo, there's not much other place to cut. He can't have a C2D and 2 gigs RAM and an overclocking mobo and a decent graphics card and a.......etc, etc. He HAS TO bite the bullet somewhere.

Now here's why he should bite the bullet on the PSU:

Normally I would NEVER recommend cheaping out on a PSU. But in this instance he should get the cheapest piece of crap he can find. Don't OC the system, leave it stock. Then prove to his teacher he can build a system that kicks A$$ and get a good mark for the class. Then the following week just go and buy a better PSU with his own money, outside of the class assignment.

This way he gets the good mark for the class and then he can get a better system for his own use. Doing this "replacement" route is the cheapest way to do it.....PLUS, get the PSU from a local store that has a 30 day return policy. Then before the 30 days is up, just return it (minus the restocking fee) and then buy a good PSU. So he gets the good class mark and a good PSU and it only cost him an extra 15% restocking fee....which is about $40 x 0.15 = $6 :!:

I call that a WIN-WIN situation. HELLYA 😉

I Have a P180 as well and love it to however like others have said it is not the coolest looking case.....I think it looks like a small fridge!  But The nice thing about it is you can put it in a nice room and have it not draw unneeded attention if that is what you are after.

:?:      :!: nah, see its not like that, im just extremely unclear

ive been saving for a computer for like almost 2 yaers now

sthe only reason i entered this class is basically to get 600 bucks for free

i really want to get $600 worth of core parts that i need to run a computer, so it doesnt seem like i have a lot of money

in the end, im willing to spend like 1300 anyway (with a 88/8900 gts 2 gigs)

i already have an antec 650watt trio (60 bucks, usually 110)
i already have an antec p180 (80 bux, usually at least 120)

if they woudl jsut give me 600 bux cash, idk get a e6420/00 and a ds3

but i cant without bringin all this money in.

would gettin the x2 3800 make me sh!t my pants 2 years from now, and get pissed at my former noobness?

i dont need a 7600gt, can the ds3 run video enough so that i can just set the computer up there, and install the 8800gts at home? i know it doesnt have built in...

mabye i could just buy 1 gig with the money they give us, and then go home and buy a corresponding stick. idk.

and i doubt AMD's overclock at all on stock...and the AMD mobo we get will prolly suck ass

if u guys dont get what im saying, ill try to make it clearer...srry

i dont think itd be a good idea to ask the guy if i can add MORE of my own money in, i already got the p180 and trio

😀 :) 😱 8O :? 8) :x 😛 😳

if i get an am2 board, cani put these new processors into it (am2 +)

these new procs will be mainstream, right? not just quad core beasts?

i dont really want integrated gfx, i just wanna be able to set my compy up in the class, take it home, and quickly put an 8800gts in, can i set up windows without integrated gfx?

Yes to both compatibility and mainstream, there are k8l dualies on the way too, they are supposed to debut around 2.7-2.9ghz and outperform conroes by some big percentage. And you need some form of gfx to install windows, unless you're 1337 skills are way beyond ours and can install windows without a screen to look at, in which case, I suggest getting the keyboard

It is no writing on it

I believe it when i see it! lol only thing amd is put out is hot air -- o ya and that nice IGC!

omg 500 posts! time to retire

so when will these new ones come out?
WILL the x2 3800 even matter in everyday apps and gaming at high res's like 1680 x 1050?

i doubt the cpu has many effects at the lvl.
?

why is the 3600 better than the 3800?
what AMD do u have? did u OC it?
i dont rly runderstand the hypertrans shit, im rly familiar with intel tho...lolz

The E4300 is not only the cheapest Core 2 Duo, but also the best.

It is by far the best choice for a CPU today. I wouldnt even try to compare it to an AMD.

but why is the x2 3600 better than the x2 3800? its only like 10 bucks less?

u have the dual core, or the single?(4000+)

how do u OC AMD's?

how are the ones up a lvl: 4000x2, 4200x2, 4600x2 they are only like at most 50 bucks more, but are a lot faster, should i jsut get one of those, and tell the guy that im gonna chip in 40 bucks of my own money?

The AMD X2's are fine. Not as great as C2D, but certainly no slouches.

For gaming though, it's ALL about the graphics card. The better your card, the better your gaming. Just get the best one you can within your budget. Or else get a cheap one, save a bit and get a DX10 card later.

wow, so u got ur 4000 to 3 ghz on a zalman 9500 8O and stock voltage?
would it be safe to run it at that?
and, skyguy your saying that if im gonna get a 20 inch widescreen 1680 x 1050 monitor, having a 220 c2d vs a 100 x2 wont make that much of a dif, but if say, im gaming at 800 x 600 it will, right?
so IT WOULD actually be good to get an x2 3600 or like mabye an x2 4400, and then defiently have an 8800gts, and overclock itlater when i need to, than get a c2d for more, and possibly a crappier vid card.

how high do u think i can go with stock voltage(for less tinkering) and stock fan with an x2 3600, 3800, and so on?
should i get an aftermarket fan like a cheap 30 dollar zalman, or should i jsut get a crappy 10 dollar aftermarket cooler?
how hard is it to remove burned in thermal paste, reapply more, and put on a anew cooler?

^^i dont even know how im making this post go on^^

lol, yeah, how is the arctic freezer 64 (15 bux)

and which scythe is the nifinite, and which one is the ninja?
at newegg, they dont actually say the "codename" jstu a bunch of numbers?

so you would recommend, either intel or AMD that i get an arctic freezer 64 for 15 bux?

on the cheap end, or a scythe ninja or infinite?(which one is better for silence, and a budget?)
