Hi,
I have been using a the Antec P182 for about six months and I really think it's great. I recently had a HDD fail due to overheating, though. The drive was in the main cage that's above the lower 4 drive cage. It looks like there's room for a 120mm fan next to the upper cage, near the front of the case. I was hoping someone had a recommendation for a quiet high volume fan. I am not sure what the width is supposed to be. Maybe someone has put one in. I am hoping that this will bring my mean HDD temp down from 59C. Also, the lower cage looks like a fan can go there as well. I plan on putting in a couple more HDDs in a few months. A recommendation for that would be great, too. Thanks.

Personally, I find Noctua and SilentX to be the most dominant in the silent fan region. They come at a price however, but from the reviews I have seen, they really are worth the 20-22 dollars each.
Scythe's S-flex 120's are really good fans - they don't make bearing noise when you slow them down with a speed controller.

I use the lower cage and have a 120mm fan down there. My raptor drives sit at about 30-32C. The upper cage can support 2 120mm fans, but if you use 2 fans in the upper cage, you cannot put a hard drive there. But the dual fans in the upper cage make for some good air flow by the video card(s).

I use Scythe Slipstream 120mm 1200rpm fans throughout my P182, 4 of them. I am running 6 SATA drives without any cooling issues, the fans are quiet and efficient. The fan for the front of the upper drive cage is a standard size, 120mm x 25mm.

I run Noctua fans myself and do a good job keeping the harddrive cool in the upper HD cage.

as for the lower cage. I have 2 older 500 gig drives and 2 newer 1TB drives
older drives run at 42deg, newer 1TB drives ruin 27-30 deg.

what I did was take a 80 mm fan (thin 15mm) and have it running at 7V
zap strapped to the inside in front of the drives.
it helps a bit in cooling.

I have been considering buying a "KAZE JYU SLIM" 100mm case fan
it is 12mm thick so it would fit in there nicly

to chookman,
no more access to it and running seagate's seatool says it's a mechanical failure. it also states that the drive exceeded 70C at some point tripping SMART. So it's an inference.
