What are the differences between Antec Truepower II, Truepower 2.0, NeoHE, and Smartpower 2.0 PSUs? Which class is the best for a typical home computer? (E6300, 2GB DDR2, 1HDD, 2 optical, X800XL)

I believe the TruePower 2 and II are the same specs and are Antecs premium quality components...

The SmartPower is a lighter duty model and uses lower rated components geared more towards economy.

rich is right the sp2 and spII have the same spec overall
they are better suited for sli if you are interested
and the smart powers will work fine if you do not use sli

you mean Truepower 2 (TP2 and TP-II)

Actually, it goes like this from best quality to good.

NeoHE is their flag ship brand, triple 12v rails, modular.

Truepower is their preformance

Smartpower is for budget-minded folks.

I do not believe the actual transformers of the NeoPower are better quality than the TruePower. I believe them to be between the SmartPower and TruePower in terms of quality, but they are blinged up to cater to the eye candy crowd, while thier goal is generating more profit for Antec.

Not true, the 3 rails are just limiters, and draw off only one power source which does not allow for as high enough amps imo. Does attract the WoW crowd tho.
and That is only another reason I vote for the TruePower series ahead of the Neo series for performance and pure quality.

damn just noticed that sp and tp
hey sam dont get too confused

antecs are good quality power

yeah, eitehr of the 3 will make u happy.

Rich is a TP owner, im a Neo owner, it happens.

anyways, this is @ rich.

3 rails mean, 1 rail is dedicated to the mobo, 1 for the Video card, and 1for everything else.

mine is the tpII with 550watts and is sli certified
it says on the box server class psu

so would the the neos be for gaming?

i would think Neo's would be for gaming, triple 12v rails, power to the GPU and CPU. but my opinion

1. As previously stated TPII=TP2. Efficient, high quality PSUs.
2. Smartpower PSUs are good, but not as good as the TP series
3. NeoHE are similar to the TP series, but have a modular cabling system and are supposedly quieter.

I have a 450W Smartpower running a 3200+ OCed 15%, HiS X800GTO OCed 15%, a Gigabyte K8NF-9, 1 HDD, 1 DVD/RW and minor periphs. It's rock solid, so I have no qualms recommending that series to you.
