Any help regarding bottleneck situation?

Hi guys,

New to this forum, have always come here for answers but never contributed until these last few days...

I used to have a GTX 660 with a Intel Core I7 3770 (Ivy Bridge)... This ran fine..

Now I have bought the new MSI GTX 1070 also paired with the I7 3770...

I was playing Metro Last light, and even though I know this game is taxing beyond belief but I can only select 0.5 SMMA, not 2x, 3x or 4x... The other settings are at 1440p, very high and everything else is on. But shouldn't the GTX 1070 be able to run the settings max?

You cpu is not bottlenecking the gpu. It is powerful enough to run a 1070 no problems.
If this is a founders edition card, you are most likely experiencing thermal throttling.
SMAA is very taxing on a gpu. What FPS are you getting with your current settings?

Hi Melenie,

Thank you for the reply, and I suppose that could be issue as my card never goes above 62 degrees, yet I have the Afterburner degrees limit set to 82 degrees I think. Therefore is there another way I can increase the thermal limit, and I have the MSI GTX 1070 version not the founders.
