I'm running win 10 with an i7 4790k, 16gb dual channel ddr3 ram, an evga 1070 gpu, a 1tb hardrive and an MSI B85I (MS-7851)/ASRock B85M-ITX. I think both motherboards are the same thing its just different names to specify the same board, not sure though as when i check my system it says I have the MSI model but the actual one I bought was the asrock iirc, so im assuming its just a branding thing and they are actually the same power wise. I've been overclocking the mobo a bit using the evga program and its been working fine. I was wondering If i should upgrade my mobo to overclock more or if my current mobo is fine. Was mainly wondering if upgrading my mobo would increase performance in any way or if my current mobo is good enough. Beyond that I know that i probably can get an SSD to improve boot up time, was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions on if I need to upgrade mobos or with any of the other parts. Thanks in advance.

The SSD also speeds up load times for games.

There isn't any small upgrade I can see. Upgrading your board to a Z97 might net you 500MHz or a wee bit more or less. That's not enough to justify a new MB. Those that pick the K sku usually also buy a compatible chip. I did that and ended up with the MSI Z97 PC Mate with my 4690K. If I hadn't I wouldn't now.

Yeah, my next upgrade will probably be getting the SSD. The main hassle is that i'm using a small mini-itx case (Bitfenix Prodigy), my 1070 is huge and takes up most of the space in that case. Theres defintely no room for the SSD because I had to take out the Hard drive rack to fit in the GPU. If I want to add an ssd I'd have to buy a bigger mini-itx case, which is fine, but at that point id probably just buy a better motherboard as well for future proofing and overclocking benefits. All in all its just about finding a case thats the right dimensions to fit everything well, but not too big for my desk. If anyone has specific mobo suggestions/case suggestions (exact models) i'd be happy to hear them.
