Anyone else find the OCZ review a bit harsh?

thanks dude for the post. I missed that on my final post but after taking it. I descovered that I used 75% of my watts on the 5 and 3.3 and over half on the 12. My current psu is only allowed 200watts on the 5v and 3.3 volt and less than 300 on the 12. but cash dude I need smoke today so maybe on the next pay.

when the team loses blame it on the noob's I was shot for a plane now my goal it to hunt them down
Edited by gomerpile on 08/05/05 09:21 AM.

Ok, first off, sorry.
That was a bit rude.

But I don't think the industry as a whole is all that bad. My experience has been that the big name PSU are very reliable, and it's only when you drift into the bargain-nameless PSU that there's any trouble.

There's nothing as dangerous as a wounded mosquito.

May I also point out that enthusiasts expect more realistic specs out of claims from manufacturer. And it seems some claim peak power while others claim 70% of peak.
You have to be careful reading specs, since the ratings can vary manufacturer to manufacturer.
And what would be fine for average joe PC might not be adequate for joe enthusiast.

Keep in mind that the number of watts that it gives you would be if all components were being used at once. I have been seeing alot of threads on the 7800 cards needing high AMPs on the 12v rail, how many AMPs does your PSU supply on the 12V rail?

I guess I'll conceed the point. Hmmm... methinks I need to stop offending the THGC.

You should always express your thoughts, concerns, opinions without worrying what someone else may think. As for being rude, I can be the biggest smart AS5 on here at times so I wont fault you for that. The reason that I tend to get pissed in many threads is because people tend to not really think before they respond. I dont have a problem with someone not ageeing with me, in fact I welcome it. Constructive debate is essential in the search for the TRUTH. Its all Good!

I'm thinking about going with the OCZ Powerstream line. Other option I'm considering is the Enermax Noisetaker. Unfortunately, both nVidia and ATI keep their power consumption closely gaurded, so it's only trial and error thru reviews. Anyone got experience with this setup (X2 4200 and 7800GTX) and what to consider?

I would be weary of the powerstream series because I have had problems with two already. Either I had a bad batch, or you must have pretty good circuitry in your house. Both tripped the circuit breaker. Go choose another series or brand of psu's other than OCZ becuase A.) they have made a bunch of defective PSU's, or B.) they will explode in houses that arne't wired to meet the highest standards.

I pretend to know what I'm talking about.

I Luv your sig! Antec TruePower makes good ones, at least I have had positive results with a couple of them.
The TruePower series is better than the SmartPower series...

Well, I built that exact rig for someone a few days ago but didnt have more than two hours to play around with it. I do know some big OCers that have this rig so I will ask for their advise. Reind me in a day or so if you havent heard back from me.

Thanks man. Reminder like you asked 😛

On the other side of things, in their "Live" stress test, they've been doing a second test of the PowerStream for 5 days now. Makes you truely wonder about their testing methodology...

It looks like they are just not updating the US site... You can see the updates here: http://www.de.tomshardware.com/praxis/20050711/index.html.

Might want to have a translator handy though...

Ya, just tried to makes sense of the babel translation that you provided on Bleeding Edge. Have to wait till the english version comes out though.
