Anyone tried CB9 on Linux and WINE yet?

I've been running CB7 with Fritz 7 as the analysis module for quite some
time on Slackware Linux using the WINE API. The results have been
quite satisfactory, generally better than they ever were for me running CB
on actual Windows.

Anybody tried running CB9 yet on WINE? I'm becoming interested in
upgrading, but not to the extent of setting up a permanent Windows machine
for it.

The day Linux can run CB 9, the UCI line of engines plus Photoshop,
Illustrator, PageMaker and PowerDVD and WordPerfect 12 is the day I
drop Windows. Until then...I'll have to put up with OS activation from
Microsoft.

So ... you don't actually have any information pertaining to my
question?

Fortunately, I have no need of your Windows-specific software.
Therefore, no need for Windows. Even now, over a year after
Shane's disappearance, most of my chess needs are still taken
care of by the combination of SCID plus Crafty. For the little
additional I need, CB7 plus Fritz7 in WINE on Linux have proved
satisfactory. However, lately, some add-ons specific to CB9 have
begun to seem interesting. But not so much so that I'm willing to
set up and maintain a special Windows box and shell out $100+ for
the OS in order just to upgrade CB. Hence my original question.

No, but it works perfectly on CRACK.

Neither do I, but I can add that I've had only one complaint about Bookup
running under WINE. It was a font problem, and it ended up being a WINE
issue.

Thanks! That's good to know, though the last time I used a version of
Bookup was on an 8088 back around 1990! Obviously been some improvements.

I've made several attempts to run Bookup under WINE, without success.
I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who has managed to get
it to work.
