Do I need to format anything or go to the bios to make any changes before disconnecting cables and transferring components?
Full OS reinstall. One is an HP OEM Lincs motherboard (from an HP Pavilion Gaming 690-0073w) and the other is an Asrock b365m pro 4.
Very dissimilar. How similar or dissimilar are the motherboards....old versus new?
Make and model of each?
Have you confirmed the cooler is short enough to fit in the new case?

Trying to use the old drive+OS install, there are 3 possible outcomes:Its going from the HP to Asrock motherboard.
What drive(s) do you have now?Should I prepare for the possibility of ordering a new compatible SSD (I do believe I was told however they should work together without issue..) should there be failure? Due to compatibility issues?
Yes.Quick other question, how do I go about detatching a SATA power cable end from a hard drive disk.. the data cables (that I bought separately) have clips making detatching easier but.. the power cable that came with the pre-built HP doesn't.. for these kinds of cables without clips, do I just tug on them till it detatches?
Its fine either way.Guessing I should be safer from static electricity if I put them in a cardboard box than the kitchen table?
