Question AOMEI Backupper image file won't work

I have an AOMEI Backupper image file of my Windows 11 partition which for some reason won't work, I can't even copy/move the file, it will get to 25% and then
it stops. It won't work on AOMEI BAckupper either when I try to restore that image file onto a partition. My other AOMEI image files are working fine, it's just this
one that's giving this problem.

Is there a way to fix this image file somehow or is it dead and I can simply delete it?

If all other image files work fine and only that one has a problem, then I'd say there was either a problem during the image creation, or it was somehow corrupted after the fact OR it may be that there is an issue with the portion of the drive that the image was written to. It might be worth running some health tests on the drive to determine if that's the case before trying to write another image to the drive.

If it turns out the drive has no issues, then I'd probably just delete the image and recreate it.

I've just tried checking this hdd for errors with chkdsk and the check itself got stuck at one point and I had to cancel it. Plus, Crystal Disk Info shows it is under Caution for one error:

I guess I was quite unlucky because this is my only Windows 11 image file and my Windows 11 partition is currently empty. I'll have to reinstall Windows 11 and then create another image file somewhere else.

I'm guessing that given the bad sectors and the fact that it's a spinning 5400rpm mechanical hard drive, that it's at least somewhat old?

So, unless it's not old and is still under warranty, I'd suggest that you want to replace that drive before you create any image backups. Any drive with verified bad sectors is on it's way out and that only ever gets worse, not better. I would not use the drive for anything of even minor importance given it's poor health. Also, it's a very good idea to have an ADDITIONAL drive with an extra copy of your image file and any other important files, since as you can see having just a Windows drive and one drive for backing up important files isn't much of a fail safe. Anything important to you should always exist in no less than two locations at any given time and three locations, whether that's an additional physical drive, a cloud storage backup or even optical disk backups, is always a super good idea.
