I live in an apartment complex where the internet is provided to all residents.
I have no access to the modem, only my own personal router.
I believe that we may all share the same public IP, because all of my computers on my own router have the same public IP, and when I hop onto my neighbors unsecured connections, I still register the same public IP.
When I play games, (specifically d2) I am getting a lot of temporary bans, presumably for too many commands per unit of time. However, I know that I am below the threshold to cause the bans alone.
This leads me to suspect that someone else in my complex may also be playing d2 (what are the odds? lol) and that with out combined actions, we are triggering repeated temporary bans.
Does this theory make sense at all?
If it does, what can I do to fix it?
ipconfig /refresh and flush both result in
"No operation can be performed on local area 12 connection while its media is disconnected"
after that it gives the status of my LAN 12 connection and only says media: disconnected
Under that, it has all the info for my LAN adapter wi-fi
Appreciated,
Keith
