Apple earphones don't work well with laptop but headset does.

First of all it is not the earphones fault because I have two pairs identical to each other and neither of them work. Well, they do work but when i talk on skype using them it sounds like I am so far from the mic but its practically touching my lips. I have gone into "manage audio devices" and raised the volume and boost and it makes no difference. I have a pair of Astro A40's and they work fine with the laptop but I dont wanna always use them because theyre so big and clunky. Thank to anyone in advanced who has a solution

Umm, this doesn't make sense. Your saying they both don't work meaning it probably is a Apple earphones issue.

Try going into Sound > Recording > Microphone > Properties > Levels > Trying adjusting those and see if it helps.

I'm saying it isn't them exact earphones fault. I discovered the problem with my own earphones and got another pair from a friend and the same thing occurred. I did what you said ( as mentioned in the post ) but makes no difference.

Yes so if the earphones don't work on the laptop (both pairs) but they work on Apple devices then its a Apple to PC issue and adjusting settings may not help.

The pair that my friend gave me worked fine on her laptop.

I actually have one of those adapters but my laptop only has one 3.5mm jack :/

Another option (although could be pricey) is that if your laptop is Bluetooth compatible to use a Bluetooth headset as there fairly small and should work as effective as the Apple headset.

If it is then she would be able to use the adapter and the sound/voip would work much better.
