[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]Short term loss, long term gain - stop giving Apple all the best componants, their own phones are now technically superior and the customer sees this...Sales move towards Samsung and however many billions Samsung lose in parts sales to Apple are more than recouped in increased sales of their own handsets, with the added benefit of market dominance[/citation]

LMAO, like they are giving the best components away for free, or as favor.

It's called business - there is no other B2B consumer that will utilize all that fabrication capability. Samsung will hurt from this - the lawsuits you all complain about are a drop in the bucket of the profit they make from Apple (in order to build better Samsung phones)...

[citation][nom]otacon72[/nom]What a dumb statement....do you have any idea how many billions Apple gives Samsung? You Android fanboys are clueless...[/citation] You do realize that Samsung has more revenue, employee's, everything than Apple (except maybe Ego.) They really aren't loosing much by not selling to their fiercest competitor. Samsung's production has increased drastically in the last 24 months, so much that they have had to purchase capacity with their competitors fab's to meet their own parts demands.

Keeping everything in house, and giving Apple the boot seems like a smart move to me. Samsung and Intel have the highest quality full spectrum silicon fab plants, and most refined processes. TSMC and Global Foundries are both a few years behind in fabrication processes. There are other Fab's that are just as advanced, but they are strictly for memory.

With Samsung giving Apple the cold shoulder, Intel unwilling to meet Apple's output demands, and Global foundries incapable of meeting Apple's output that leaves them two options. Ask TSMC really nice, or buy your own Fab. Only one of which would allow Apple to release a product within the next 2 years.

Samsung gave Apple the boot? check your facts. Just more iHater rants and be happy Apple existed so Samsung can innovate thru Apple. That being said at least Samsung does produce quality products (mainly TVs) and being based in a manufacturing heavy region of Asian allows them to manufacture locally.

Really Robochump, you want to start this again?

Once upon a time Samsung and Apple had a contract. Apple wanted to renew the contract with the same terms, but Samsung (allegedly) wanted more money for their chips, 20% more money. Apple (allegedly) paid the 20% price increase and immediately increased negotiations with TSMC and Intel attempting to replace Samsung.

Samsung gave Apple a price increase knowing that they would lose a customer, but they didn't care. So yes the way I see this, Samsung gave Apple the boot. It has taken the last 4-6 months for Apple to lock in exactly when that boot will be hitting their ass. This is all information that was leaked to the press and cannot be confirmed due to NDA's, but Apple never refuted the claims.

Feel free to search for "20% price increase samsung apple", there are so many links (even from this site) from last November that I don't know how anyone could not have known this.

I do not believe that Samsung will miss then, they would not say no to a new contract, but they will not chase one either.

Also Samsung is renowned for their LCD's not TV's.

meanwhile Samsung has taken it's companies position way beyond Apple's and in the meantime Apple looks like the odd, over puffed up chested, duck

Amazing the Apple hate. I'm not a fanboi for either camp, I just have to do the IT setup for the phones at work. Half the phones are iphone, the other the latest Galaxy.

Guess which one is half the work to set up? 1/5 the work to work the keypad? Doesn't have to be re-booted all the time cause it lost the server?

Maybe cause you don't USE an iPhone or maintain galaxies for a fleet of plumbers, it isn't obvious, but the iPhone is about 5 times easier to use and about 5 times more reliable. That's not a fanboi thing, that's a percentage of call out thing.

No doubt I'm a fanboi for noticing our call out statistics?
Or because it clearly takes half the time to set up and iPhone compared to a Galaxy?

All staff that have been given both over the past 5 years begged to be on iPhone. Over half threatened to smash their Galaxy against a wall.

What drugs are you Samsung ass kissers on?

Seriously...

LOL. Sounds like you work in a geriatric unit... /jk

Seriously, my SGS2 (a 2 year old model) keeps connection with our WiFi router better than half of the iPhones I've seen at my office. They always have to hunt for that perfect spot where they have to stick in order to use our WiFi, their range is abysmal. And when they have to toggle their WiFi, geez, so many steps to take( exit app, go to home, settings, etc), while I just drop the notification bar and I have the WiFi toggle button right there. How is that "half the time" you claim?
As for the keypad... you can't even tell if you use CAPS or not on the iPhone's keypad. Letters look all the same. Yeah, really 1/5 of the effort....
Don't even get me started on that tiny screen and the cramped letters on the keypad because of that.
Your claims are very, very hard to believe.
"What drugs are you Samsung ass kissers on?" Yeah. Very mature, indeed....

Seriously...

Chaos : You realize that you sound like an Android hater / Apple fan right?

Do you not use an exchange server (blackberry or regular)? I find it ridiculously simple to setup email on either device once I had my exchange server properly setup. Select new account, active sync, type email address and password, accept new administrator if prompted. Wow that was hard...

The keyboards work just as good (bad)on the GS3 as they do on the iphone, but I have huge hands so I just use voice, but i'm lazy like that.

If iphones were 5 times easier to use and 5 times as reliable, then why did Samsung surpass Apple for customer loyalty in cellular phones?

"Over half threatened to smash their Galaxy against a wall." Umm.. wow, your user base is super mature...

Maybe the plumbers you support like the iphone so much because they are accustomed to working with shit all day... 😛

Samsung will just swap apple production to Tegras/Keplers/Maxwells shortly. No loss as the GPU's are MUCH bigger than a soc. I won't be surprised a bit to see a samsung made kepler/maxwell soon.

On another note, it seems like iphone6 will be 3-6 months late because of the switch (usually out sept or so correct?). Q1 is not sept 2013. This is 6 months android can steal apple's lunch (which is already happening at 4to1 activations). Pissing off Samsung may end up being one of Apple's largest mistakes. But samsung really doesn't have to sell their track record to anyone regarding pumping out millions of popular chips. Apple's phones to date have always been on time, meaning so has samsung with every part they have in that phone/tablet etc. Based on all of TSMC's failures, delays etc how difficult is it to sell samsung fab time? Not hard.

Since Samsung currently outsells Iphones in the world market and demand is going up, it's not hard to predict that any business loss to Apple will directly mean that they'll be able to take up a lot of the slack lost to Apple by utilizing their own electronics. If Samsung sales start to decline this will hurt them more but insofar as the market is going, Samsung product sales are on the rise.

Both Samsung and Apple will be hurt by this short term but the likely scenario in the longer term is that Samsung will be in a much better situation that Apple is. Since Samsung is Apple's major competitor, Samsung owns it own factories it can produce devices a whole lot cheaper than Apple can and the emerging markets are not in the Western economies but in countries where they are looking for inexpensive devices. Apple having to go to various hardware producers will have to maintain a certain price if they want to keep their profits high and hopefully not suffer from problems with hardware compatibility issues not to mention supply issues.

Today i ordered my first ipad, though i hate apple, but android ain't capable in making apps with low audio latency and more and more audio mixers and synth come with an apple ipad solution.....which can save you hundreds of dollars compared in buying a real synth or digital mixer etc. Though the a6x ain't a WOW spec processor. I still believe that intel is much larger with their marketshare, just because version 1 of their tablet has more cpu power than the apple 4.
Only win8 fucks it up, like most standard windows versions. But theresources that intel has are much larger, just like samsung then apple.
And most pc users use windows..... gen 3 and gen 4 are almost the same.... A bit like sandy to ivy-bridge.... When you own a sandy, there's no internal need to buy an ivy for that small perfomance increase...
Samsung is such a large company.... what about their marine components. I think the padmarket and phone market are such a little piece of the total company, that they can bare the loss with ease. Apple can't and have to come with something innovativ instead of mostly looks... I need firewireconnections and sd-card-slots and don't make them thinner... Use the space for extra power and cooling . What's the use of thinner... nice for women with small hands and it looks nice, but i don't see it using a rubber side cover.
But like most review say, an ipad ain't a musthave. It lacks power to use highly graphic programs. And it's to small to be a notebook.
It's a nice toy, with a nice screen, but ips is also old.

If it weren't for the audio, i certainly would have bought an android.
For example...it''s made thinner, but it ain't capable of giving power to high impedance headphones, while audio users are a large share of the people buying macbooks. So now i have to use a line converter. Which ain't very positive for soundquality, or you'll have to spend 100 euro's....
But luckely they're wanted on the second-hand market and selling them after 1.5 hear, will still give you a decent price. And samsung drops faster.....
