For god's sake, grow up and get over the name already. People already talk about notepads and touchpads etc. is everybody here under twelve?
I'm disappointed in the feature set for the ipad, but still can't understand all the hate, get a life people it's a niche computer product that will either do okay or won't. It is also a 1.0 product and early adopters will enjoy it but chances are it won't be until people actually have some of these things that we will discover what they are really good for and what we would want out of a 2.0 product.
I won't be buying one of these, but I can't be arsed hating on it.

The system-on-a-chip is the result of Apple's internal development though its core processor is still based on a design from United Kingdom-based ARM.So simple put: They have modified the design to have created a SOC with markedly variant properties from the original design. In Apple's own words, it's "custom silicon that we designed for this product." So, the question is if a Harley Motorcycle is modded is it still a Harley or a Titan? ( Titans are Harley bikes that have been customized)

Jobs correctly assumes his customer base would not care what CPU the ipad uses ... as long as the picture is pretty and teh touch screen responsive ... and the sound is good.

He will tell you what you will want to do with it and you will ...

The hatred is hilarious like many have said. I for one don't care much about it nor did I have my hopes up about this release. Honestly Apple just doesn't create "HOLY SHIT" material in my eyes. I'm no Apple hater...I just don't care for overpriced and regurgitated product-line garbage...

First Apple is not a NEW customer of ARM at all. They've played a very large roll in the designs of the ARM since Newton so that shoots that down.

As for the iPad being a disappointment it's only a disappointment to those who don't understand the roll of a tablet and put a lot of weight into the rumours that didn't make sense in the first place.

The people who think this is a disappointment were clearly seeing the keynote but were not watching the keynote. I mean just the way iWork worked proved that Apple not only understands the tablet but knows how the tablet should have worked. I saw that vision when I first saw the iPhone and later when I first used an iPhone. Apple couldn't make a large iPhone because it doesn't make any sense to do so. Apple couldn't make a small MacBook/Air/Pro because that doesn't make any sense either. It had to make a device that worked like an iPhone and not a laptop but also make it not act like an iPhone but more like a laptop. In other words it had to be interactive like an iPhone but useable like a laptop for editing and viewing.

It's that that makes the iPad the most astonishing device out because it goes against the grain of the current tablet thinking.
