[citation][nom]Regulas[/nom]Don't worry Windows users. Since MS can not buy out or shut down Apple they will copy this idea soon enough. They will then incorporate it into their OS with draconian DRM so it slows the drivers down and make it hard for third party vendors to copy and claim they invented it.[/citation]
Thats sounds more like an Apple idea. Multi-touch was not there idea, yet they act like they invented it. Did they make the first MP3 Players? Nope, still act like the invented it. Hell the even stole the interface from creative. There cool slim laptop keyboards. Sony had that first. They patented there own Wiimote clone as well..I think you got it backwards.

[citation][nom]sot010174[/nom]I fear that I put my fingers over the (regular) mouse buttons all the time... I think Ill misclick a lot with that. :-([/citation]

Yeah I did not like how the Mighty Mouse worked. My friend has one and I always missclicked. It's annoying like hell. I hope they've fixed this... This is one thing that Apple need to do some serious work on...

Definitely sounds like a pretty cool mouse for those into media (non-gamers).
Personally though, it'd take a bit of self-training. For those of us who fidget, not mindlessly tapping the mouse or moving our fingers over it will be a slight challenge. Would be cool if there is was a switch to go from touchpad "mode" to regular-mouse "mode".

@Ciuy: I do love my razer mouse. =D

I can't see these being part of the PC universe. I play games, so a multi-button mouse is a must. As for people like fingering their computer there's an app for that... :)

So do I. The Mighty Mouse really wasn't very good. I got used to the way the clicks worked and didn't really have a problem with that but the trackball got clogged up in no time and was nigh on impossible to fix. Mine died about a year and a half ago and only bothered getting it replaced on warranty two weeks ago just before the warranty expired. Its still in the plastic wrapping they gave it to me in. I've been much happier with my Microsoft Habu mouse. I'm positively optimistic about the Magic Mouse but only time will tell. If not then I'll eBay the thing and go back to the Habu.

Get gadget... but you forget something Apple...

This mouse doesn't have any Windows DRIVERS!
So you forget 90% of the market!
Thank to Apple be so much "close mind"...

[sarcasm]Now you can own everyone on FPS game and get everyone say wow at you [/sarcasm]
It doesn't give me a clicky feel which is must for everyone on PC community.

The idea is good but in reality it wont work well because you will have miss clicks and other problems, you also cant game with a mouse like that.

PS a logitech gaming mouse is much cheaper, had many more buttons and features, better tracking speed and works on most surfaces unlike the apple mouse and it is great for gaming and it works on the mac

it would be better if apple went with a standard mouse design like a logitech gaming mouse then make some of the button touch sensitive for gestures and stuff

[citation][nom]Regulas[/nom]Do like most of us do. I keep several pairs of rechargeable AA and AAA batteries around my house. When one set needs replacing I change it out and re-charge the spent ones. Whats so complicated about that.[/citation]

I disagree, most people using those will have a graphics tablet. Also for using those apps you need flowing precision movement, whilst working the tools and I've already pointed out that this is likely to be more difficult when trying to make two finger gestures on a touch surface than with keeping them on static buttons where the ycan still contribute to your overall control of the movement of the mouse body.

oops should have quoted this:

[citation][nom]masterasia[/nom]Looks cool. If I had a Mac, I'd buy it. This isn't meant for gaming, but rather media. I can see how it might be good for Photoshop or Illustrator.[/citation] instead

My understanding on clicking is that unlike the mighty mouse, since it is in fact a multi-touch device, it can detect where your finger(s) are anywhere on the device and what you're doing with them. Additionally, the hardware underneath does have physical left and right click detection. Leaving both fingers on the device when left or right clicking is detected as any normal 2 button mouse would. Removing 1 finger to click with the other is NOT NECESASARY with this mouse.

Gizmodo has a nice review of it, and short of giving it low marks on ergonomics (as all dial handed mice will get), they loved it.

Yea, Apple has made really shitty mice in the past. This one is an exception, and per people actually using it, the guestures are "perfeclty implemented" and intuitive and responsive, with no false clicks/swipes.

Windows and Linux drivers are on the way. They actually had to release the product first so they had some people not under EULA to test it... Drivers expected "in coming weeks".

I think you missed the article Tom's did a few weeks ago that featured multi-touch mice from Microsoft (granted they were prototypes, but they were revealed first)

looks like a good mouse. i love the way apple designs things. if they can do one thing right, its designing their stuff. great job apple.

since i need more than 2 button mouse, i'll stick with my revolution with all buttons custom remapped per application, but i'll keep this one in mind when recommending a good mouse for beginners. Seams like a stylish way to start.

I saw a video on this yesterday. The motions required looked awkward to me. I replayed the video and tried to do the motions but stopped when my hand started to hurt.

Well, considering mice after long periods of use get filled with gunk and disables clicking and even the scroll wheel forcing them to be taken apart and cleaned,, this mac design is a blessing. Plus gaming mice are for gaming and used just that. I don't think photoshop users would need a 5 button FPS logitech frap mouse.
