Question Random App Crashes: Chrome, Discord, and Rblx Close Without Warning

For the past month, I’ve had an issue where Chrome, Discord, and Rob locks (word is banned) all close themselves at random times — no warning or messages. Sometimes it happens after just a few minutes, other times after hours. I’ve reinstalled software and hardware drivers, monitored temperatures, and even upgraded my CPU cooler to rule out overheating. I've also checked HWmonitor, Event Viewer ,and Reliability monitor but found nothing helpful. Oddly, when Discord closes, it reopens instantly like nothing happened. Other intensive games work fine, even under load, so the problem seems isolated to just those three. Any ideas what might cause this?

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

List of all connected peripherals.

Wired or wireless network?

Make and model modem, router, or modem/router if combined?

The router's logs (if available and enabled) may provide some clue. Who has full admin rights to the router? You will need help from that person.

For the past month, I’ve been dealing with a frustrating issue where Chrome, Discord, and rblx randomly close without warning — no error messages, no logs. It happens inconsistently: sometimes within minutes, other times after hours of use.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:
  • Reinstalled all affected software
  • Rolled back to NVIDIA drivers from March 2025 (the most stable ones recommended)
  • Updated BIOS and chipset drivers
  • Upgraded my CPU cooler to rule out overheating
  • Monitored temps and hardware via HWMonitor and HWiNFO (temps are normal)
  • Checked Event Viewer, Reliability Monitor, and Crash Logs — nothing useful
  • Performed stress tests and gaming sessions with no issues — only these three apps crash (might be more but im thinking they're one off instances)
Odd behavior:
  • Discord relaunches instantly after crashing, like nothing happened
  • Chrome sometimes shows a STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error
  • No BSODs, and games run perfectly under heavy load
I strongly suspect this may be related to a Windows update, as the problem started immediately after doing my monthly system update. Everything was stable before that.
Any ideas what might be causing this? Could it be a registry-level corruption, a software conflict, or something deeper in Windows itself?
