Hi All,

I'm currently looking to upgrade my APU on my secondary computer. It currently has an MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 mobo. This PC isn't for playing games but mainly for streaming to from my gaming pc and then streaming to the internet.

I've done a little research and I'm getting conflicting information so I hoped the good people here could help.

From what I've seen the best my mobo could upgrade to is an A10 6800k according to this site http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/FM2-A75MA-E35.html but when I looked elsewhere I saw people talking about A10 7850k.

I'll list the other info about my system in case you think it would be wiser to upgrade another part with the task I have in mind for this PC. Thank you for any help.

Operating System
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU
AMD A10-5800k
Trinity 32nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 933MHz (13-11-11-28)
Motherboard
MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 (MS-7721) (P0)
Graphics
Acer P225HQ (1920x1080@60Hz)
2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7660D (MSI)

After a bit more reading it seems the rule of thumb for a streaming PC is the more cores in a cpu the better. Should I look for a new mobo and cpu?

Thank you for the reply.

I think I may have to look at upgrading the mobo as well. If I get a Ryzen will I need to buy a separate GPU? Or do they have onboard graphics as well?

The two Ryzen models I listed (2200G and 2400G) both have built-in graphics. You will have to replace the motherboard/CPU/RAM as a set. Your old RAM won't work with Ryzen.
