APU with GPU

I'm currently using a Athlon X4 750K FM2+ CPU with my Sapphire TRIX R9 290 4GB card and I was wondering which CPU would be great for the FM2+ socket.

I searched that the AMD A10-7850K was the absolute best for the FM2+ socket, but I'm not sure since I'm also looking that it's an APU.

Is it a good idea to pair the 290 with the A10-7850K, or is it a bad idea?

Using an APU would be a waste of money. The only point of an APU is they have a decent igpu and it would even be usable with a r9 290. There are no fm2+ cpus that would be worth the upgrade. If you want a better cpu you'll need a platform upgrade(cpu, motherboard and possibly ram).
