Are all Windows 7 disks the Same?

Might be a silly question but: I have windows Home Premium installed on my PC, I also have the installation disk. I also have the product key for Windows 7 Professional but no disk. Could I use the Home Premium disk to install Windows 7 professional on a second PC (which currently has XP installed) by using the Windows 7 Professional product key to activate it?

No, they are not the same. You need the proper install media to use with the proper key.

You can get the install media from MS with a valid key. Go here:

Okay thanks for that. I take it that this method will accept a key that has been purchased rather than lost - as long as it is authentic.
