Note to anyone reading the following: I apologize for the excessive length
of this posting, but I feel it was necessary to counter some of the
continuing misinformation being put forth by Measekite.
Measekite,
There is a vast difference between helpful suggestions (criticism???) and
the manner in which you set yourself up as the supreme ultimate authority on
aftermarket vendors when in fact you have NEVER ordered from them or used
any of their products. You continually disparage Alotofthings, MIS and Weink
for imaginary offenses against your self proclaimed standards of excellence.
You claim that Alotofthings will not accept phone orders, but how do you
really know? Have you actually tried. The fact is that they do encourage
online orders because it reduces the chance of human error, is faster and is
less costly. How's that any different than most other vendors on the
internet? But guess what!!!! They will and have taken orders by phone. They
certainly did from me, but then again I don't try and tell them how to run
their business. FWIW, Joe Nigro the owner of Alotofthings is a very busy
person, but is more than willing to spend time talking on the phone with his
customers. I've spoken with him at length on several occasions and he is a
very friendly (and informative) person. As to customer service and customer
satisfaction his ratings are as close to 100% as possible. Look at his eBay
score. From personal experience, I can guarantee that they provide fast and
outstanding customer service. I am going to provide two examples of why I
praise Alotofthings as a vendor of choice.
The first happened on my initial order from them. The order of bulk ink came
in very quickly, but there was a problem of leakage caused by defective
seals on a couple of the bottles. Only a very small amount of ink actually
escaped from the bottles, but it covered everything in the box and because
the labels were obliterated identification of the photo magenta and photo
cyan from the regular magenta and cyan was difficult. I took some digital
photos of the shipping container and contents and emailed them to
Alotofthings. Within a few minutes they had called me back (via telephone)
and explained how to tell the difference between photo and regular inks.
That was great customer service, but that's not all. They also insisted on
replacing at their expense the entire order of ink which was 6 16oz bottles.
Because only a slight (very slight) amount of ink was lost, I felt there was
no need for that and told them it wouldn't be necessary. Nevertheless the
offer was extended (without any request on my part) and I considered that to
be an outstanding example of superior customer service.
The second occurrence when they rose to the occasion was last October when I
placed an order for bulk ink and a few sets of Arrow cartridges from their
eBay store. However, there was a problem with how PayPal computed the
charges. The result was multiple charges for the same items and PayPal
refused to correct the problem claiming the vendor would have to do so. Note
that this was strictly a PayPal problem, but I then phoned Alotofthings
hoping that it wouldn't be a problem. It wasn't. Obviously, they have
caller-id because instead of introducing themselves as Alotofthings, Joe
answered with a laugh and said "They really screwed that one up didn't
they?" He then explained that they had already seen the order and determined
the erroneous charges from PayPal. He also said that he had tried to call me
and got a busy signal for nearly 30 minutes (that was while I was arguing
with PayPal customer service). To make a long story very short, they had
already corrected the billing snafu and had issued immediate credit to my
account. You may think they are unprofessional, but that's not been my
experience in dealing with them.
I know that you claim Alotofthings is an unprofessional organization because
you don't like the perceived inadequacies of their web site, but how does
your imaginary perception stack up against my real world experiences. I
challenge you to find anyone, other than you, who has posted any negative
comments about them. While you may not care for their website, I find it
informative and well designed. They did drop the shopping cart, but it has
since been reinstalled. Compared to other ink vendors, I think it is one of
the best.
You also disparage Weink and MIS. These two vendors have excellent
reputations. John Mills of Weink has been a source of continuing support and
information to users of this newsgroup. I haven't placed any orders with
Weink, but I have always respected his knowledge and ability and he has
earned the respect of the long time participants of this forum. Prior to
becoming a confirmed Alotofthings customer, I did business with MIS (a.k.a.
inksupply.com). They are also a fine internet vendor and have an excellent
reputation. I had no complaints with them or their products and would have
continued using them except for the initial order of ink from Alotofthings
which turned me into a confirmed customer of theirs.
You are now touting the fact that you are investigating a cartridge seller
in Kansas, although you'll probably never place an order with them. Let me
save you the time. You are most likely referring to Tyler Martin Co.
www.tylermartin.com . They sell Rainbow and USA brand ink cartridges. I've
placed orders with them on several occasions and have received prompt (very
prompt) service. They have excellent prices. I've used both the Rainbow and
USA cartridges in my various Canon printers and have not had ANY problems,
including the dreaded ink clogs you continually wail about. When those
cartridges (and the Arrow cartridges from Alotofthings) run low, they are
refilled with bulk Formulabs ink.
Feel free to disagree, as I'm sure you will. But remember this one thing. By
your own admission you have never tried any third party inks either as a
bulk refill or cartridge and have not been a customer of any of the vendors
you continually disparage. On the other hand, I have extensive experience
refilling and being a customer of some of the vendors you habitually
disparage. I've created a short pdf file that describes how easy it is to
refill Canon cartridges and I receive requests for this file nearly every
day. I'd even send you a copy if you want one.
