There is no 3 fan version of the gaming x but I dont overclock my machine that hard unless I need to in games so is the gaming x a good choice?I've had couple of cards from both MSI and Gigabyte but (maybe I was just lucky) never experience whining that was actually noticable. My newest gpu is still gtx 1080ti from Gig so maybe it becomes worse with 20xx models and I wouldn't know. From my experience so far with both manufacturers I'd say Gigabyte cards are generally good with stock or boost but start to either run very hot and/or deny any sort of oc (graphics device crashed etc.). MSI on the other hand is way more prone to oc and has one of if not the best cooling systemson their cards (t least air cooling one). So unless you ran into a faulty model you can't go wrong with the gaming x series gpu, I'd personaly opt for the 3 fan version if you plan to get the most of it or push it to the limits.
I spoke to gigabyte a while ago but they said they couldn't go through the rma process because I got it on amazon or is this wrong?Coil whine isn't manufacturer specific. I have not heard issues with gigabyte specifically.
I would contact gigabyte first. Coil whine, while not dangerous, is often annoying enough that manufacturers will allow you to get replacements for devices with coil whine.
The MSI Gaming X is a good card if you do want to go that route.
I suspect they are wrong.I spoke to gigabyte a while ago but they said they couldn't go through the rma process because I got it on amazon or is this wrong?
I can still send it back through amazon and get a refund so should i do that?I suspect they are wrong.
Read the detailed warranty text on the Gigabyte web site for details and restrictions.
That is what Gigabyte is wanting you to do.I can still send it back through amazon and get a refund so should i do that?
Yeah i think ill refund my 2060 super and try the msi model and see if its any betterMy apologies, didn't notive 2060 MSI models are all twin fans. Still I'm willing to bet they'd beat or draw with GIGs tri in terms of efficiency. It's stupid what Gigabyte is doing with you but I guess policy is different with gpus in comparison to for example ram memory where you can send back ur product with nothing else than a serial number and they will replace it. Back to the subject if you're "unsatisfied" as the law term is by all means do send it back for either replacement or ur money back.
Yeah i can be added to that list sadly what about the msi gaming x version? If not do u have any reccomendations for 2060 supersI have no issues with GIGABYTE motherboards, I have a B550 Aorus Pro coming up in a week.
But GIGABYTE GPUs? No thanks. Too many people I know had buyers remorse with them.

So would the gaming x from msi be a good choice?Gigabyte is a really good (price and efficient wise) though they're trying to do what MSI have done which is being good or above in all aspects and in case of gigs it shows in their gpus which are mediocre at best.

Do you think the msi gaming x 2060 super is good or do u have any reccomendations because I've kinda realised I'm not very good with this sort of thing 😅
So it could be a driver? Also if it is being caused by the combo of psu and gpu could changing brand make a difference?I'm using a Gigabyte gpu, so it was a little sad to read.
Coil whine can happen to any gpu - the brand does not matter. There's no guarantee the new card won't whine, but the odds of it doing so are lower... unless you just have bad luck. No guarantees.
Besides a possible factory 'oopsie', I know of 2 other causes of the whine:
-the user's hardware combination of gpu and psu.
-gpu drivers: I've personally experienced this one.
Won't know without trying a few different ones first...So it could be a driver?
Changing brand of what? Also if it is being caused by the combo of psu and gpu could changing brand make a difference?
Do u just change to any other driver or should you go back in drivers?Won't know without trying a few different ones first...
Use Display Driver Uninstaller to remove the old driver and then install the next one.
Changing brand of what?
The gpus are all pretty much manufactured in China; the cooler and VRM design will be different depending on the model and product tier; Aorus should have a beefier cooler and more robust VRM design compared to say, Windforce.
With power supplies, it's a similar deal with the internal components.
So, with the hardware combo... is the gpu possibly being fed 'dirty power'?
Do u just change to any other driver or should you go back in drivers?
All I know is the Gaming X line isn't low tier - but neither is Gigabyte's Gaming. Also do you think the msi gaming x has good vrms?
Are the vrms on the gaming oc from gigabyte bad because the coil whine I get is quite bad
Just go ahead and return it; that would be the easiest and cheapest thing to do.That is what Gigabyte is wanting you to do.
They do not sell directly to consumers so the retailer is the first place to address issues.
Amazon is good about returns and such, If the whine bothers you, by all means, send the card back and replace it.
On this tier list I found on ltt forums it said that the gaming x was on the same tier as the aorus in terms of cooling and pcb so should coil whine be less apparent?

Is this the msi card or gigabyte? My card runs fine and has never given me a single issue or even one single stutter. I cant hear sh*T, as the fans are spinning at 39 percent. Then I have a curve that takes them to 100 percent when I game and my temps on the GPU are below 70c when gaming. Mind you I have overvolted and overclocked the core by 125Mhz and the memory from 7000Mhz to 8300Mhz and not a single artifact or crash. That is a big VRAM OC.![]()
