sure, for FPS, but why not for games like street fighter 4? No reason why they have to split that up with windows live and xbox live. Totally canning the idea of playing together because of one genre is just stupid, not to mention microsoft can totally make money by offering a keyboard+mouse extension to the xbox if they played their cards right.

Yeah but... what about a turn based strategy game??!?! This is where these idiots don't see the potential. The combined console plus PC sales would be a boon for MS.

The way forward is the way CCP are trying to do it with EVE and Dust.

Dust will be a console based online FPS, tied in to the EVE MMORPG/Strategy. Success and failures in dust will directly affect pilots in EVE who have planetary industrial activities. PC and console working together doesn't necessarily mean doing the same thing against/with each other.

ahh, i always wondered. I thought at one time it was rumored that xbox live would feature the ability for vista users to play against console players on the program. I didnt hear much about it again, but these hands have been dying to teach those console kiddies a lesson in pwning for a long time.

My weapon of choice when i'm gaming happens to be mouse + keyboard... I just don't like console controller. I've never really liked the buttons at the front of the controller meant for the index fingers of your right and left hands...

PC is better than XBOX, it has nothing to do with the gamer at all, it has to do with the hardware and controllers!

A crap gamer will be crap regardless of the machine he games on, and a uber 1337 gamer will still pawn regardless of the machine!

Go play Lost Planet Colonies then. lol. It's mostly PC players left now though. A bunch of us PC gamers scared off most of the console crowd. Too bad after the dust settled, there was barely any players left. Now you can sit in a lobby for 30-45 mins tring to get a match. lol. PC players were always at the top. If there was 5 PC players, they were the the top 5 at the end of every match.

I have to say though that it's not just the KB/M that gives a huge advatage. The 30fps limit really cripples the console as well. So if I am on PC with 60fps, against a guy that has very choppy control at 30fps that also comes into play.

Right now I play Transformers WFC on PC and on 360 with the controller. The 30fps vs. 60fps makes a huge difference. Thank god someone released a FPS unlocker for the game...what a difference on the PC version after. I'd say I get atleast 5 more kills a match and 3/4 less deaths after I uncapped the framerate.

I've played Bad Company 2 on both Xbox and PC and it's not even comparable. FPS on PC are far superior to Xbox and should never be placed in competition together, Period.

Something we've known for years.

It makes me giggle when console kids say they can aim just as well on a controller.

Mouse + Keyboard > Controller when it comes to fps games. It's not even close and anyone who says otherwise doesn't play FPS games on a PC.

[citation][nom]andman22[/nom]The benefit of a console is an even playing field for every one. It puts more emphasis in who is better at the game, and not who has a better system. PC's and consoles are two completely different things.[/citation]
Most PC gamers have machines more than capable of delivering good framerates. Higher than consoles anyway. COD just barely manages 30-50 after sacrificing a lot of detail. At 1280*1024, pretty similar to the 720P output of consoles, I get 200+. Besides you can always drop detail.....

I see nothing wrong with PC versus console gamers, except one thing - FPS! When it comes down to ANY game besides a first person shooter, I believe it is a level playing field (racing, MMORPG, platformer, etc.). When we look at something like COD, Battlefield, Bioshock 2, etc. - throwing in the mouse is the same as the console gamer throwing in the towel, the joystick simply will not conquer its use! Head shots and aiming in general is ridiculously easy in comparison.

Mind, racing sims (GRID. GT5, Shif) will always be better on console.....force feedback helps a lot.

Good point sincreator... frame rate is also important.

I think the title is too inflammatory, I'd say that "PC CONTROLS" are superior, not PC Gamers. Especially with twitch games, the amount of time you play has a large impact on skill, and lots of console gamers spend obscene amounts of time on their games of choice.

Sadly for them... even a very talented Console gamer is cannon fodder for a halway skilled PC gamer. I also saw this during the "Gravis Gamepad" era of pc gaming. One of our friends played consoles most of the time and swore that he could match us with a gamepad... he could not. He never ended at higher than last and rarely got any kills at all (and he's a skilled gamer, once he switched to KB/Mouse he became one of the best in our group)

This has been going on for years. We all know the answer to that question!
It's two different worlds, we shouldn't even have to discuss this.
I'm a PC gamer and a console gamer, does this mean I'm too good for myself?

I really don't see this as "PC gamers are better", more that, PC is a superior gaming platform in general. The mouse + keyboard is simply better than a controller.
I play L4D on both xbox and PC(only game I have on both), and I would hate for the xbox side to play against the PC, my stats are simply that much better.

The game they tested was shadowrun and yes console owners got beat upside down left and right. It was so bad that they opted to put aim assist at launch. And they still got out played.

Yeah, I've known this for years. I played quake 1 using the mouse and keyboard. Eventually I tried a first person shooter on a console and realised the controls were clunky in compairison. You can move your thumb all the way to the left or to the right but that will only turn you so fast. With a mouse you can turn as fast as you can move your mouse. (No limit to the speed of your movement) Sure you can increase the sensitivity of the joystick but that typically just ends up making it harder to aim so that doesn't help much.

"PC Gamers are better but does that make the PC a superior gaming platform? I think you would need to study the experience each platform provides. Just because you are "better" doesn't necessarily mean you're having more fun."

I agree with your last statement and with that in mind.. the PC is more fun to play on as well. Reason being you're able to play to the extent of your rig which is usually better than your console by leaps and bounds. Not to mention the lack of frustration of being bound to a controller's capabilities. When I want to swing around and shoot someone on the PC, I do it with the flick of the wrist. It takes forever by comparison on the consoles, even with the settings adjusted.

Which brings up the point of sensitivity and acceleration. On the mouse your acceleration is dependent upon the speed of your movement. On the console the acceleration is a logarithm that calculates it for you. Most of the time as it accelerates it makes you miss your intended target. The sensitivity can be adjusted on both. However on the PC the range of sensitivity is much larger.

Then you have the direct control of the mouse vs the auto aim assist of the console. Even with the assistance the fact is the controller on consoles are pathetic in FPS games. It's been said and prove time and time again.

I do giggle a little at those that state that the console is an even playing field. The biggest factor in FPS and online games is lag. Consoles have no control over the speed of the owners internet connection. Also consoles have cheats/and hacks as well on them. Granted they aren't as prevelant as they are on the PC's, but they're there.

So on a PC I get better graphics, smoother framerates, mod communities, I don't have to pay a xbox or psn fee, I get more direct control without the frustration of the controller, don't get the childish banter of Live. Not to mention after a long session of gaming I can do some freelance work on my pc, skype, hulu, browse the web, buy a game on Steam when its 75% off.

I'm pretty sure the overall experience on the PC is far better than the console. If the people that own consoles took that $600 (at launch) and put it towards a pc, they could have had a pretty decent gaming rig. Hell my coworker bought a refurbished i7 920 rig the other day for $600 and couldn't be happier...

Everyone already knew this, only way a console gamer _ever_ could match real controlls is by using "cheats" like autoaim and the like. Real gamers play PC!
