Are socket G and LGA 1155 equivalent?

may i install an 1155 socket Intel processor on a socket G motherboard?

No. Socket g may be an old server board design.

Nope, socket G1 is a mobile socket and is a rPGA or a Pin Grid Array. While the socket 1155 or socket H2 is a LGA or Lan Grid Array and is used in desktops. So unfortunately the processors that use socket H2/1155 LGA can’t be used on a socket G1/989 rPGA board.

Thanks guys, but I'm a bit confused.
If I look at the NF98 Jetway mITX mainboard specifications it says about the CPU
"Intel rPGA988A CPU socket supporting compatible Intel Core™ i3, i5, i7 Mobile"
When I read Intel® Core™ i3-2120 Processor specifications it says that it supports the FCLGA1155 socket.
What am I missing? Are some i3, i5, i7 with one socket while the rest is with a different socket or what?

Laptop and desktop CPUs are not interchangeable. The i3 2120 is a desktop CPU, it can only run on the LGA1155 Socket H2. It won't work on a laptop. The PGA988a is only compatible with the mobile CPUs, these are CPUs that have an 'm' at the end of the model number.
