I have an Intel 12700K which has none of the issues of the newer intel 13 and 14 generation CPU's however I would like to upgrade my CPU BUT I have heard of the voltage problems they represent. Now I am hearing that it is ONLY the K processors of the 13 and 14 generation chips being affected. But I have read other places that it could also affect the non K 13 and 14 generation processors? So which is it? Are the Intel 14 generation LGA 1700 Socket chips OK as long a they are not a K series? Such as the Intel 14900 chip with no letter after it? Such as this one...https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i9-14900-Desktop-Processor-P-cores/dp/B0CQ24VW72/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1HC5BV16R6Q49&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.RegHR6cUUmIUhxhON6ly2dOtvD9S2trauxSVVunJjKCsVyyECSsy6FIwXQbf8G5-fUuDH50Ct9NW1XUEAX8tB5EiCHqVFBH5WY3v-vx7Fhtl4TNhvvEFqygnyIbdH3AVh6J1QwyumXzDrOhlTFxLc7pYIFF-cSJHY6XmX6U-hVl1r7L8PPErJdEq45dACqw1DnqU08yy-3YPSX1DMiZcFeFI9u6zP2t486VTgDuBpIwymQnmwMetC5oidHaTXG_--8w0hbpmvDLElUZJKVA5M-XDten_fdcpCt1mWxStevM9JOQF7YkGKBX713r3NkSIWQwBRh9XFf0vROhSMylZrtj7haAKNrjBS65ed7LzaZg.h-SC2Se8QJ3npWMexBAdXL-9toilDcGjpSSN-CCvMK8&dib_tag=se&keywords=intel+core+i9+14900&qid=1737241851&s=electronics&sprefix=,electronics,141&sr=1-1&ufe=app_do:amzn1.fos.5998aa40-ec6f-4947-a68f-cd087fee0848 Would that be ok to buy with no overheating issues?? I have a Gigabyte B660M-DS3H Motherboard it would go into. I am currently running a Intel i7 12700K with no issues.

If you're with a 12th Gen, you're safe, anything under the 13th and 14th Gen is under question.

I have a Gigabyte B660M-DS3H Motherboard it would go into.
I wouldn't even think about adding a higher pedigree processor onto the motherboard. To add, you can't even take advantage of the unlocked processor in your build due to the chipset. You might fair better by swapping the B660 chipset out for a Z690 chipset and overclock the processor. If you're able to pick up a board with a beefy VR design, then drop in a 12th Gen i9 processor(provided your case and cooling is capable of taming the heat).

To add, you can't even take advantage of the unlocked processor in your build due to the chipset.
But that's the whole point here....
In a mobo that can't overclock and can't overvolt an k CPU then that CPU will be safe.
Although I have no idea if that particular mobo does overvolt or not.
The point is to make sure the mobo doesn't pump too many volts into the CPU, if the mobo applies a low volt cut off point then even with the bugs asking for unsafe levels of voltage the CPU won't get it because the mobo cuts it down.

Often people go for the k model because they are cheaper or just barely more expensive but provide higher performance due to higher clocks even without any overclock.

Any of the 14tg gen processors are ok so long as you install the most current bios update to the motherboard.
Intel has found the root cause of the issues and delivered fixes.
The fixes are in two parts.
1, the default motherboard settings are no longer the aggressive overclocking that motherboard makers used to make their products stronger.
2. The processor microcode now controls the voltage properly

The non K 14900 has a slightly lower base power and max turbo power compared to the 14900K
65w, 219w vs 125w, 253w, It also has a max turbo of 5.8 vs. 6.0 No exactly chump performance.
Your i7-12700K has a base power of 125w and a max turbo power of 190.
Not very different from your current cpu.
