are the rubber pads required on the Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo?

I am looking to install a second fan onto my hyper 212 evo, but I have no idea where the rubber pads that came with my cooler are. Are they absolutely necessary to have when installing the second fan, or will it work without them?

They help minimise vibration and noise. Use them or don't use them - it's up to you.

The noise is generated from the fans rotating but not smoothly - from friction, out of balance or turbulent air. The faster the fan spins, the more vibration you usually get and so the noisier it gets.

long story short, pretty much the same performance with rubbers and without

annoyingly loud without them (at high RPM's)
