Are these temps normal using a Kraken X61?

Solution
Those temps are little bit too high for the CPU load you are currently at. Unless you were doing a test before that to see what the temps were. Did you put on the thermal paste incorrectly (Too much or too little)? That is all I can think. Make sure that when you put on your thermal paste: make an X like mark on the CPU and don't spread it with your finger (That makes bubbles when you put the heat sink onto the cpu. You don't want bubbles). Don't put too much on! Gently "draw" an X on it with one swipe for each line. Spread it by putting the heatsink on the cpu. Your system is clearly new since it has a 5930k and GTX 980 so it can't be dusty. Good luck!

Upon further inspection I saw the max CPU temp to be 89 Degrees Celsius. That can...

Solution
So I found out what the problem was. The Kraken X61 has a horrendously bad manual. It comes with 12 elevating screws, 8 long on both sides, and 4 long on one side and short on the other. I had installed using some of the long/long screws, so the damn cooler was barely even touching the CPU. But it was touching it enough that some of the thermal paste was on it. So I cleaned the stock paste off both the cooler and CPU, then took out the long/long screws and put in the long/short ones. I applied the paste like you said and now my CPU temp is at 29c at idle, 46c max. Thanks for the advice!

Glad I could help! Those temps look great and healthy. Not just great but amazing. Enjoy!
