Hello. I decided to change the thermal paste for my CPU. I bought Arctic MX-6 because of YouTube reviews.
I had pre-applied Be Quiet’s paste. I tested the temperatures by running Cinebench for 30 minutes, with all fans at 100%.
After the first test, I removed the old paste with the wipes that Arctic’s paste comes in. I applied the new paste and spread it across the whole CPU.
Then I did the second test, also 30 minutes of Cinebench with all fans at 100%.
The results were a bit disappointing.
Be Quiet (pre-applied): Min: 76.9 Max: 79.9 Avg: 78.9
Arctic MX-6: Min: 76.1 Max: 79.0 Avg: 78.0
Difference: Min: -0.8 Max: -0.9 Avg: -0.9
The question is whether Be Quiet’s pre-applied thermal paste is so good, or if I did something wrong, or if choosing a "premium" paste almost doesn’t make a difference?
I tested it on a Ryzen 7 5800x and an air cooler Be Quiet Pure Rock 2 (150 W TDP).
