This is my first build and I have a ASRock 970 Extreme4 with an AMD FX-6300, I have just put the system together and have not yet purchased a GPU, my plan was to use the system casually until I have the money to buy a GPU. I noticed that there isn't a HDMI socket on the motherboard so can I use the system without a GPU? If so what cable will I need to connect up to my monitor/TV?

Solution
You will need a GPU of some kind to run this PC. Motherboards typically don't have integrated graphics, and while some CPUs do, yours doesn't. The motherboard would only have display adapters included if the socket type would be used by a CPU with an integrated GPU.
