Question Asrock AB350M Pro 4 - RAM Issue

Hello Guys,

I've been having stability issues with Asrock AB350M Pro 4 and the RAM XMP Settings.

My PC Specs are:

Ryzen 5 1400
Asrock AB350M Pro4 Mobo
4x4 GB kit of Kingston HyperX Predator rated at 3200mhz

I am using the latest BIOS version 5.80

I am not able to use XMP at all. Everything above 2400mhz which is the default setting makes the system unstable or not booting at all.

I have 2 XMP presets - 3000mhz and 3200mhz.

I would like to use the higher speed capacity on my RAM but I am not able to...

Also, I am not familiar with manual RAM Overclocking and I am not aware what timings must be placed, so I haven't tried that one.

Anyone with a similar issue or a helping advice?

Kind regards,

Most CPU memory controllers have issues running at full rated speed with 4 sticks of ram. trying to control 4 stickls in dual channel mode tends to require a little tweaking, especially if the 4 sticks did NOT come in the same kit(i.e two 2x4 kits instead of one 4x4 kit).

A 2x8 gb kit tends to work better than a 4x4 gb kit.

Well, I believe what is the causing the issue then. The kits are actually 2 separate kits of 2x4, not a 4x4 kit out of the box. But they are exactly the same memory tho.

The PC was initially bough with 2x4 and eventually I have decided to upgrade it to 16 GB Ram and bought 1 more of the same kit.

Is there a way of manually tweaking the speed or I should sell the kit and buy a 2x8 instead?

I feel your pain, as I was in the same situation. Never did get both kits to work, either kit would work by itself, just not both at the same time.
Getting un-matched ram to work at the rated speed is problematical at best, and impossible at worst. It is a ram configuration that the ram manufacturers won't support, so you are pretty much on your own. You can try relaxing the timings, reducing the speed, or going to a 2T command rate instead of 1T. Just be aware that nothing is guaranteed.
If it were me, I would RMA the new 2x4 kit, go for the 2x8GB kit and try to sell the old kit.
