I am trying to connect my pc to 55 inch Mi Tv 4k via the HDMI port on both pc and TV
When I try to set the resolution to 4k, I get a black screen. If I set to 1080 its working.

My pc Specs are,
Ryzen 5 2400G
Asrock B450 Steel Legend
16GB DDR4 3000MHz RAM
Windows 10 Pro

TV Specs are,
4K HDR
Resolution: 3840 x 2160
Refresh Rate: 60Hz

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Out of curiosity, where did you source the installer for the OS? Which BIOS version are you for your motherboard(currently)? Have you tried a different HDMI cable? You might want to be wary that you're not connecting to the HDMI ARC port.

Windows 10 was downloaded using micrsoft Windows 10 installer.
I had prior license for windows 8 pro and it was running on old PC and had upgraded to windows 10. This old PC was dead few years back.
Usung the same lincense key i was able to activate windows 10 on this PC. In short, it is genuine windows 10.

Motherboard bios version is 2.90.

Yes, I was connecting to ARC labelled port. Today I tried another port still same issue,

I did not try a different cable.
The cable I tried is an old cable, and it is very lengthy too (15 meters, was bought for a different project).
I will try another cable which came with my Xbox one (first model)

Should I be using a hdmi cable version 2.0 which says it support resolution up to 4K. Like this https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00GG57JO8...colid=5UUZ9BF8W40M&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Or should I be using the display port on the motherboard for 4k resolutions?

I did try another cable and the issue is resolved. I do have another question though.

asrock b450 steel legend got one hdmi and one displayport port and the specs says,

  • Supports HDMI 1.4 with max. resolution up to 4K x 2K (4096x2160) @ 24Hz / (3840x2160) @ 30Hz
  • Supports DisplayPort 1.2 with max. resolution up to 4K x 2K (4096x2160) @ 60Hz

Now I would like to get my PC monitor and tv connected to PC always. So that whenever I have to switch displays, I can do it easily. Question is,

Should I be using a displayport to hdmi cable for pc monitor and hdmi to hdmi cable for tv?

note: most modern hdmi to hdmi cables says it supports up to 4K. Where as most DisplayPort to hdmi cables says it supports only up to 1080.
