ok... So my question is about a pentium dual core that i got for cheap.... the cpu is not compatible with my AsRock 4coreDual Vsta. Its a wolfdale E6600 the 4coredual only supports kentfield and conroe and others. So I have two questions actually.. Is there a way to force the mobo bios to identify and accept other processors?
And If that is not an option AsRock makes some decent cheap hardware I was looking at this other mobo that will work with my agp card and my ram and that E6600.. I am currently running a Pentium D. TBH I really want to get new hardware but I don't have 300-600 dollars to throw at my pc at any one time

Yes you are reading the old core2duo E6600 Conroe which is different from the pentium dual core E6600 wolfdale! It is a strange naming scheme and has gotten many confused!

You are right the board does not support the Wolfdale E6600 and nothing you can do about it! Did you find a board that supports the Wolfdale and AGP? I think that would be difficult!

Its ok! I got my cpu and I am not going to return it.... anything is better than the pentium D I am running. I am getting a newer board and some extra ram plus a vid card for relatively inexpensive, so between the cpu and the mobo plus ram should run me about 200$

Thank you! I have the new board and the cpu, the RAM is in the mail and I am hunting for black friday deals for a vid card. I have my eyes on a radeon either ati or amd, not particular. This build is long overdue and Its been a while since i upgraded at all, I am excited to start putting it together. My psu is 650 watts so that is more than enough to handle everything. Woot for home builds and upgrades :) :)
