Hi -

So I flashed my mobo to the newest driver? in order to support and OC my cpu the anniversy intel G3258. The flash was successful! However, I now have no sound and my computer will not power down and if I try and shut down through windows it resets.

I have tried uninstalling my soundcard (asus Xonar DGX) in device manager and doing a hard reset by turning off the power

I have tried disabling onboard sound in BIOS, I have tried using only onboard sound

I have reinstalled realtek codeks

I dont really know what else to do?

running windows 8.1

Solution
Flash it to the latest version, then reset CMOS by removing the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes (unplug PC from the wall before you remove the battery).
Flash the previous BIOS version back. Or at least any version prior to the one you were using. There is a chance that you flashed the wrong BIOS version, maybe if you flashed the version for a similar model or rev 1.0 of your board. You have to be 100% sure what you are flashing.

Anyway, Pentium G3258 overclocking is supported from BIOS version 1.30, and the latest one is 1.40. Try both of them and see which one works better for you.

Thanks

I forgot to mention that one other thing I did do was re-flash it back to 1.30 and the issues have remained the same from the initial flash from 1.20 to 1.40

I have not yet attempted to reflash it down to 1.20 again because im trying to get the support for the cpu

Further, I initially (by accident) attempted to use the r1.0 version BIOS to flash but it wouldnt allow me - so I am pretty certain this is the right version

I will give that a crack - that sounds like some next level risky behavior - I will let you know how it goes

I cleared the CMOS - fixed the sound right up but no solution to the reset issues to clarify:

when I shutdown through the start menu all options give me a soft reset i.e. sleep mode, shutdown and restart - to actually power down I have to hit the power at the wall or on the psu when its powers down between restarts

If anyone has any ideas for this let me know

In control panel, there should be "power options" icon. When you start it, on the left you will see "choose what the power buttons do". You can set your front case power button to perform shutdown when pressed ("When i press the power button: shut down"). Try that.

You can also try disabling "hybrid shutdown" feature. Follow this guide:
