my frien want to make a swap, for my g41mt-s2p 3.0 due core for his asrock ?. ddr2 + ddr3 on one mother board can i change from ddr2 to ddr3 i dont want to make a mistake with this swap thanks and keep up the good word of pc :??:

The pins are completely different and they also use different storage methods. Most processors can't be used with different types of RAM either.

Correct. The actual physical layout of the pins is different, so even if you tried, you couldn't put the RAM in the DIMM slot without cutting the DIMM slot or making a notch in the RAM module. And then it still wouldn't work.

Well, I have been looking for motherboards for my old PC, and i have found motherboards made by ASrock that can use either DDR2 or DDR3 memory. Just not both at the same time.

Here is an example:

I know, its an old mobo, but still. Just proving a point.

But in response to the original post: Can you post your current motherboard make and model, and post the one he wants to swap?

Hm, that's interesting. I haven't seen one of those before. But are there any processors that support both DDR2 and DDR3?

Good question. I searched the intel website for information about which memory my old intel core 2 duo is compatible with and did not find any information. I guess it just depends if its compatible with the motherboard and chipset.
