[citation][nom]nebun[/nom]ha ha ha....intel's 4 core will still be faster.......it's the truth[/citation]
If you want to be fairer with the comparison, we're talking an 8-thread CPU vs. an 8-thread CPU. Whether the 2600K will be faster or not isn't something we'll get to know for some time.

[citation][nom]firo40[/nom]OMG ASRock is independant now so stop referring to them as a budget brand lmao[citation][nom]wolley74[/nom]hmm, 8 core support? sounds like it'll be ready for bulldozer[/citation]
Well, seeing as ALL AMD 9xx series northbridges are designed specifically to support Bulldozer, that's probably a safe bet! LOL
[citation][nom]lutfij[/nom]^ to answer that question ; http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] srock-asus[/citation]
You realise that ASRock and ASUS parted ways a long time ago right? They were NEVER ASUS' budget brand, they were ASUS' OEM motherboard division.
[citation][nom]ProDigit10[/nom]Where are intel or AMD with their true "System on a chip"?Modem, lan, wifi controller, audio chip, all on die with the cpu, in such a way that they can get rid of all those externa; controllers, sucking up power, and using up valuable latency!Audio applications could go so much faster with dedicated hardware built directly into the CPU ring (like VST's could work better). Latencies could be reduced not only from audio, but also networking latencies; which are currently the biggest issue for slow working webpages! And although creating a massive chip that will replace 90% of onboard hardware, will result in slightly worse CPU performance, it might increase program response (programs that are depending on internet, audio connections, etc...); plus Intel or AMD could not only create all these chips at 32-20nm, but also powergate them, making them so much more energy efficient![/citation]
Yes and also making them impossible to upgrade in increments. By your "ingenious" design, when one part fails, the WHOLE thing must be replaced. Not much point in building a custom PC at that point is there? I know, go buy an all-in-one flat PC and when it becomes outdated, discover that everything in it is proprietary and cannot be upgraded. You'll be looking at a far more expensive upgrade option that I will with my massive, fragmented and easily-upgradable build. Hell, assuming that Zambezi FX-8150 is going to be $300, I'll have spent $600 on the CPU, 16GB of RAM and a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. Go find an OEM that will give you something like that.
[citation][nom]Waethorn[/nom]I was going to say the same thing.Fatality is like the kiss of death for any company. Abit? Gone! Creative? Gone nowhere since 2004. And Asrock? Well that's the icing on a turd sandwich. When I see Fatal1ty, I head for the hills![/citation]
OCZ had Fatal1ty PSUs and they're still going strong.
[citation][nom]shin0bi272[/nom]Is this tool failtality still relevant anymore? It seems like an excuse for companies to put a sticker on a product and jack the price up 50%. Asrock is supposed to be the budget conscious version of asus... stay that way.[/citation]
Except that ASRock's 990FX Extreme4 motherboard is bloody expensive. It's literally $50 more than my Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 and the Gigabyte board has more on it that I'll ever need!
[citation][nom]lutfij[/nom]You forgot to include XFX - they suddenly ended up making the mistake of not going with Nvidia chips - they are struggling with selling amd hardware - reference PCB's and a standard cooler - with no or a minimal OC.[/citation]
Got some news for you old son, XFX is the ONLY brand of video card I buy because of the double-lifetime warranty! THAT is something that only EVGA can match and I don't buy nVidia.
[citation][nom]firo40[/nom]OMG ASRock is independant now so stop referring to them as a budget brand lmao[/citation]
Jetway, ECS, Foxconn and BioStar are also independent. Does that mean that they're not budget-boards? Hell no!
