Question asrock z270 stops posting consistently whenever I make BIOS setting changes

I’m trying to set an XMP profile for my ram but whenever I go into the BIOS menu to change the setting and then hit “save and exit” it won’t boot it’ll just sit with a blank screen. I have to hard reset my computer multiple times to get it to finally post and then it boots from there just fine. I can get it to go back to posting every time by resetting the cmos but that defeats the purpose because then my ram settings are back to default. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
