Assassin's Creed, Requirements, do I have what I need?

Ok, I know a little bit about computer hardware/software but not very much. I know that I don't have the CPU power, the right Video Card, enough Ram and I may not have the right Sound card to Play Assassin's Creed on my Computer, so I need a little help.
This is what I need:

System Requirements:

This is what I have:

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate

Processor: ADM Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ 1.53 GHz

RAM: 1023MB

Video Card: NVIDIA Quadro FX 500/FX600

Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio

DVD-ROM: yes

Hard Drive Space: 14.7 GB

Now, I know that some of my requirements don't match up, (and I don't think I even HAVE a sound card) so how do I improve my computer so that I can play? And WHAT do I need to Improve?

The final pc will be much better then any pre-built box from Dell,HP,etc..

It will point out your pc's weaknesses.
Honestly i wouldn't spend any money on a 10yr old pc as far as trying to upgrade main components.
I am building a client a pc for under $600 including WIN7 HP 64bit at the moment that will run Assassins Creed.
Might not be on high settings but playable nonetheless..

Hn. Ok, that makes sense. I really like gaming, and I have some old games I'd like to play, as well as new ones, like Jedi Academy and Carmen Sandiago(I know, they are really outdated, but still...). But now my computer is TOO powerful(I think, that is what my computer repair guy said.) to play them. Can I make a computer to play both new and old games?

Old games can be difficult to resurrect on newer systems.
I bought Windows 7 Pro which has an XP compatability mode for loading and playing older games.
XP Pro also had that feature to play WIN 9x games.

No you would need Win7 Pro 64 bit for playing old games.
I just mentioned that XP PRO also has that feature but for Win 98/95 games.
No point building or buying a new pc with XP Pro.

How do I access that feature? Keep in mind, I had the computer "upgraded" so that I could play my games on it, and now I can't play the one game I used to be able to! The man who "fixed" my computer had added a lot of anti virus software and said something about adding a "card"(I don't remember which one) which was causing the problem and it would be to much trouble to remove the card so I could play my game again.

Download CPU-Z for mobo and ram info.
GPU-Z for video card info.
Both are free.
