Asus 1070 - Stuck on Win7 Welcome Screen (Nvidia 375.xx series drivers)

372.90 and 373.06 do not produce this issue. Any 375.xx drivers does for some reason unknown. I would use DDU in safe mode then install the latest NVidia 375.xx drivers (including hotfix .76). After reboot it would just show the welcome screen for W7 (http://i.stack.imgur.com/0PczP.png) but gets stuck there. No desktop shown at all but I can hear the windows boot sound and the hdd moving as it loads the startup apps. I know that the windows is logged in and that everything else is working normally but the screen just gets stuck on the welcome screen. Pressing the power button also shuts down the PC safely and going to safe mode loads up windows fine where I am able to uninstall the driver to fall back to the older ones mentioned above. Is there any fix for this or anyone know of a fix?

I only install drivers, hd audio, and PhysX. 3D and GFE is unticked.

On boot hold F8 and select vga mode. Uninstall the drives and use DDU to remove all configs. Then reinstall the drivers.

I already mentioned that I used DDU to install new drivers and that I can boot safely into Safe Mode without issue to uninstall the 375.xx drivers to downgrade to the older 2 mentioned on the first sentence. This isn't a solution to what I am facing with the 375.xx drivers in general.

Yup there has been a lot of problems with 375 not just for windows 7 but also windows 10. Its buggy as crap and I suggest downgrading to 373.60 as its the last know working. Theres not much more you can do until Nvidia gets their act together. these are all bad so wait till you see new ones.

.76 was released on Nov 2nd. I guess I'll hope for a fix with the newer versions in the future.

375.xx up to 375.95 still gives a stuck on 'Welcome Screen' on windows 7. 376.09 (latest) gives a stuck on 'Starting Windows' instead. The screen just gets stuck where the windows logo stops moving (normally moves when loading windows). I can hear the windows login sound in the background and the loading of apps. Power button shuts down pc normally as well along with windows logout sound. 372.90 & 373.06 still works without this issue. As usual I used DDU before installing the new driver in safemode. Can also boot into safemode to uninstall latest driver to downgrade. Any other solution one can think of?

Only one I can think of is wait to Nvidia gets their act together. There may be some improvements after xmas as they will want a good release for the 1080ti.
