Hello,

Im currently browsing new laptops to buy and was just wondering is 8gb of VRAM enough for 1080p gaming in 2025?

Thanks,
Morpheus77

P.S. Let me know if you need any more info.

it's plenty unless you plan on insisting on cranking up all the eye candy at all times and/or modding the heck out of a game.

it's higher resolutions that really need the extra vram. the fake frame gen tech also eats into it quite a bit so keep that in mind as well.

if you just install the game, turn it on and enjoy it, then you'll be fine.

if you install it, insist on checking every single box, adding a ton of mods and using as much fake frame generation as possible, then it won't be.

the choice is yours :)

A mobile RTX 4070 is the GPU.
I have a machine with the 4060 mobile and 8GB, at 1080p it's starting to get VRAM choked in some games. It all depends on what you play and what detail levels you are comfortable. Enshrouded for instance, locks out Ultra textures on cards with less than 12GB. It's fine because I can literally not tell the difference between Ultra and High on my desktop rig that can do it. FFXVI at release would descend into a stutter fest due to VRAM shortage, though that is fixed now. It's really hit and miss right now. My concern with the machine is where will it stand with next year's titles, or the year after? I'm sure this has been less than helpful, considering the lack of options at the 4060/4070 price points but I thought I would at least relay my experience.

Thank you for your input. Ya Im going to go ahead and avoid anything lower than 12gb VRAM.
